The Weather'd Report - Ryan Crim: Life Coaching in the Medical Field

from ROAD RAGE 101

In today’s medical environment, primary care physicians often lack sufficient time to spend with their patients. This can lead to a tendency to order unnecessary tests, increase referrals to specialists, or prescribe medications for conditions that could be treated without them. One solution to this issue has been direct primary care, a model where patients pay an annual fee for increased access to and time with their physician. However, many patients cannot afford this model, or they may prefer to stay with their current provider. As an alternative, Ryan Crim proposes a life/health coach model. In this approach, Ryan would review patients’ medical records to propose potential alternative pathways—such as lifestyle changes—rather than resorting to medications or tests. Additionally, if the current treatment plan is appropriate, Ryan would confirm that the tests and medications prescribed are necessary. It's an interesting concept and well worth the conversation Welcome to Episode 37 of The Weather’d Report.
