The Weekly Stuff #346 – Xbox Buys Bethesda, Super Mario Sunshine, and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory

from Purely Academic with Jonathan Lack & Sean Chapman · host Jonathan R. Lack & Sean Chapman

After an unplanned two-month hiatus, Weekly Suit Gundam – our sister podcast exploring the wide and wonderful world of Mobile Suit Gundam – is finally back, with a big in-depth review and discussion of Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, the OVA series from 1991 that provides some of the highest highs and the lowest lows in the entire Gundam franchise, and makes for one of the best critical discussions about the series we’ve ever had. Before cutting to the Gundam talk, though, we also break down the crazy news that Microsoft is buying Zenimax, the parent company of Bethesda, giving the Xbox brand ownership of Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, and so much more. It’s a big development with countless implications, so many we can barely begin to cover them here. And finally, Jonathan also talks about finally finishing Super Mario Sunshine for the first time in his life, and he and Sean commiserate over the gauntlet of endless frustration provided by one of Mario’s only notable missteps. Time Chart:Intro: 0:00:00 – 0:06:20Xbox Buys Bethesda: 0:06:20 – 0:40:14Super Mario Sunshine: 0:40:14 – 1:08:52Gundam 0083: 1:08:52 – 3:25:39Subscribe to our YouTube Channel!Subscribe for free to 'The Weekly Stuff' in iTunes!Follow Jonathan Lack on Twitter!Follow Sean Chapman on Twitter!  Read Jonathan Lack’s movie reviews and stay up to date with all our podcast projects at https://www.jonathanlack.comSubscribe to JAPANIMATION STATION, our podcast about the wide and wonderful world of anime: https://www.japanimation-station.com Read Jonathan’s book 200 Reviews in Paperback or on Kindle – https://a.co/d/bLx53vKSubscribe to our YouTube channels! Japanimation Station: https://www.youtube.com/c/japanimationstation  Purely Academic: https://www.youtube.com/@purelyacademicpodcastSupport the show at Ko-fi ☕️ https://ko-fi.com/weeklystuffOriginal Music by Thomas Lack https://www.thomaslack.com/©2012 - Present Jonathan R.
