The Weekly Top 3 (9.18.2023)
from The Weekly Top 3 Hosted by Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets
Welcome to The Weekly Top 3 — our look at the top 3 things on our mind here at Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets — for the week of September 18, 2023. This week our top 3 issues are these: 1) we discuss the double standard employed by the ADN editorial board when addressing the issue of “fairness” in various contexts (2:15); 2) we explain the hypocrisy inherent in Sen. Cathy Giessel’s call for new legislation to address poverty and food insecurity when she, herself, has been a major contributor to both through her push for PFD cuts (14:49); and 3) with oil prices rising, we discuss how a budget approach used by the Legislature last year can be used this coming year to prevent a spike also in government spending (34:11). The Weekly Top 3 is a regular weekly segment on The Michael Dukes Show. The Show broadcasts on Facebook and YouTubeLive as well as via streaming audio from the Show’s website weekdays from 6–8am. We join Michael weekly in the first hour of Tuesday’s show, from 6:25–7am, for a discussion between the two of us about our three issues.
