In a few words... "having a little fun". In 1979, yes another old one, I was taxi-ing my son and two of his friends to their their first communion lessons, at the local church. On the way home, they were talking excitedly about the previous evenings TV. Specifically about a cartoon show with a wicked wizard. At home later. I began playing around on my guitar, very simple chord sequences and the words simply flowed out of me. The Wicked Magician (March 1979) 1.The wicked Magician, He cries in the night. For the wrongs he has done And the wrongs he can’t right. The wicked Magician Knows his way was wrong But for power and wealth, He was just swept along. 2.The wicked Magician, He cries in his sleep For the lies he has told And the vows he can’t keep. For we all have to pay For the black and the white. The good and the bad That we do in our life. chorus. And to us all Comes a judgement. If you believe in life after our death.
