Yeah, we just moved into a new place and I've just been really wanting to purchase some wicker furniture. Oh, uh, listen man, you came to the right place on, is I all this summer? Oh no, wicker man! Wicker man!

We're talking about the original wicker man. Yeah! And I guess I should say here we are, we're Halloweeners. It's a horror movie podcast, I'm Kira.

She asked, Cody's two on a label. I'm Cody. Because it is, it's not even that early anymore. I know, but...

No, I'm not judging you, I'm just judging myself. Um, from handling a bagel store. In the morning, in the morning, in the morning. Um, this is my first time witnessing this film.

Me too. Oh, what's your first time? Yeah. I didn't know that.

I knew it was like summery and piggy, so I was like, fun, I guess I'm a reflect. Yeah, I didn't know that. Was I right? Yeah.

Um, I watch this. You can find it on the way, but you can also find it on the Amazon, which is how I watched it. Um, and I literally watched it in bed with headphones in. Well, John was asleep next to me and it was just like a weird movie to watch all some of the sleep.

Um, I'm just thinking of that fucking dude with the cloth tear. Like, what was the name of the whole scene? The name of the moment I'm a scene in the way. I only watched the first half of the movie then I went to bed.

We'll watch the second half. Revisited the first half and thought I had to run to the next bit. No. Cause it has that vibe to it.

Well, it was movies that I was like, is this the real movie? This is so weird. And then the remake has a class cage. And then does he play detective?

Detective? I don't know what the bees? That's the one with the bees. That's the one where he runs up to a girl over here, causing a fucking punch.

You know how directed that movie? Which one did we make? Yeah. Oh!

Me and Labu playwright? Yeah. The famous women, he can playwright. Is he?

I mean, all the book, I'll play her about like, ah, the sketching of the painting and the women are so bitchy. Which book did he write about it? Ohhh, right. Irony.

Okay, cool. So, like, fun fact. So, uh, you know what I'm Scotland? Yes.

Sometimes. Um. Wait a minute, 1973? Yes.

Actually, male, I'm other male. Please. Real quick. This movie was going to be released in the United States in 1978 in November, but they pushed it to January because around that time was when Don't Sound happened and they were like, this was pretty it.

Fun. Not fun. Wait. So, I pushed it to January after November.

Yeah. Got it. Because November was when they were like, oh my god, awkward. Everyone.

Just all these people took a bunch of poison. Did you have any people there? Uh, at least ten. Not wrong, but...

It was a lot though. I forgot. It was 900 people there. And like, it was people like, drinking it willingly.

People like, because you sit in lines. Like, people have not been lying to you. You know, like, all right, you're a little Jimmy. It's really fucked up.

Really just saying that you should probably read more books on it. Yeah. Actually, I should read books on it. And, so, it's Scotland Fun Time.

Like, wow, like, he's showing up. Oh, first. First, very important. Oh my god.

Oh! It starts with a sun slamming to the screen. I don't know if you know this, but do you know the game, Zelda and the door is masked? I mean like...

Okay, well, people who were out there who know the game starts with a mask slamming to the screen very similarly. And it was like, whoo! Fun. I'm here.

And then it starts, and then it goes, it begins with, um, Missy, the main man. His name is, uh, last name is Howie. Howie? Howie?

He is at church getting some communion. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like establishing this theme of like rituals. Oh, wait, that wasn't the beginning for you?

Oh, before the credits, yeah. Was it different for you? Um, I thought it was when he was praying the first night that he was there, we saw scenes of him being communioned at 9 to 9 and 9 dead ideas. He was eating all that blood.

He was getting immunized. He was becoming a communist. For my note, before the credits. And I know there's different versions in like US, UK.

Oh, okay, so it's possible we saw different editing. It's possible. Um, I like that it started with that because it was like... Everybody got some rituals, they do.

Oh my god, cute. So, like, I think I think of that much scarier at the end because he's so like, wait, no, I want to come back and they're like, oh, okay, sure. Um, what's that gonna say in my version? And I think in...

No, sorry. Um, I have no ground to say that. I don't know. There is like a thing that's like the producers of this movie would like to thank the residents and, you know, and Lord Sumerail for showing us your religious, I took a screenshot of that.

I'll post it, I can't remember it. So it was like trying to be meta and be like... Yeah, like a little weak. Like a player, which was true, sorry.

Yeah, exactly. So like, fun. Already on board. Um, yeah.

I'm gonna say, Mr. Howie. Mr. Howie, how we have actually voiced this about, he's visiting some small Pumble Flock place in England.

Island. Yeah, on the West Coast, Scotland, it's called Summer Isle. Cute. Cute.

Why is he there? Oh, because he got an anonymous letter that's like, oh my god, this girl's missing. Where is she? Where is she?

Very Twin Peaks? Yeah. Ooh, fun. Coming from out of town to investigate a small town that has like, a secret.

Yeah, and like everyone's like, who are you? I can't tell you. Yeah, you need Christopher Lee's approval before you check this out. Hey.

May I stay now before he arrives? Please. Young Christopher Lee. Okay.

I think he was a thousand years old. I do like a divorce. I'm sitting a thousand years old. Like it's sleepy hollow.

Sleepy hollow. It's up to sleepy hollow. Sleepy hollow and just like, from Lord of the ring. So I was like a young man, like dancing around like, you was building his fantasy.

Like honestly, I was like on board. So I wasn't like, oh, daddy, but I was like, I support. Do you know the, like, his life, sorry, vaguely like, really quickly? Um, I think, no, I don't know.

So he was like the inspiration for James Bond. What? Like, New Ian Fleming, he was in like, am I sick? Or whatever the fuck?

Like, Secret co-op, co-op? Co-op? Co-op? He could prokicow up.

He loved the way I guess. The covert operations force of British Secret Service Secret agencies is, they like, play cool people. He definitely went instead. You're definitely murdered.

But then he also, like, into his 80s and 90s. Like, when he died, he was in this metal band. You're fucking kidding me. No.

I think he's just kind of as crazy. I mean, like, like in a good way. Yeah. He's just like a quirky dude, because like, he's also like, he's like a really, oh fuck, this is so embarrassing.

Who did In the Count on Play in Northern North Carolina? Yeah, of course. I got it. Sorry.

He like, wasn't because of it. He's like, oh, no, no, I don't know. I'm at like, and I'm like, yeah. He absolutely got to be moving.

He's like, we're right. I'm going to be and off. And then like, yeah. And he's like, it's like, literally when it comes out.

He's like, great. I'm still getting it. No? So I just feel like he's getting these weird.

He would read the book once a year or the rings, which is a lot. The former president, then, killing man. So who? Like, everybody can kill somebody.

Not everybody can kill somebody. Or the ricks. Sorry. You're at air first.

You got a point, Cody, when I'm on trial, you can put that as if it's. That audio bit. I can't wait. I guess it's really, he comes out later, though.

They're all Scottish. Yes. Even though a lot of the man actors are English, but it's fine. We hear like this music, they're talking about corn, something in barley, something.

It's establishing this very like. Yeah. We're going to be singing about weed. It's like super harmless.

In the best. We're the graph. All about semen. It's some sense.

It is. Everything. There's a lot of phallic imagery. They're just like, it's like a piece of shrubbery.

We're like, yeah. Yeah, that was it. Oh honey. Oh honey.

Oh honey. Got to head on the shoulders. They're all like on the shoulders. What?

They're like on the shoulders. Well, when I think when he visits later, when how he visits the doctor, there's a jock of course. Oh, you're so right. Oh girl.

That should be a week. I was shooketh. Oh yeah. Rip to rip it off.

I don't know. Help me. What's happening? So they're in, because in Jamaica, Queens.

Yeah, we got to put it up. So we'll get for the kill up. So everyone's acting like, OK, so he gets up on land. And he's like, yeah, Rowan Morrison, she's missing.

And they're all like, I don't know who that is. And they're not being like, Shiffy. I don't know who she is. They're like, no, I don't know her.

Like, Barry convicted. Watching movie guys knowing it, I'm trying to find the logic. And they're like, because he's like, oh, she's the daughter of May. And they're like, oh, May Morrison.

I totally forgot about her. Yeah, that bitch lives over there. And then like, hmm. May was like, what?

I just want to talk about that also. So it's candy. Don't worry about it. Also people swallow frogs in my store.

Not following up. Just keeping their mouth. And then hop out. But that's later.

But I mean, we'll get to this later. But I think the specific doling out at information was to keep him interested and keep him there and keep him looking, because he had to get to the very end of his own court. I just, it's just funny to imagine this entire village took acting classes, like, practice their lines. They propped as their objectives.

There were scripts. Yeah. There was a moment before. Oh my god.

What is your character want in this scene? Break it down to beach shifts. Who won the scene? Oh my god.

Never made any. Yeah, we were the actors who were like, I'm lost. Every scene. Can you say something crazy, but maybe also Stonas person's lap?

OK. OK. I don't know. I have a story.

I do want to keep served. I guess I do. I mean, I'm a lawyer and she's my client. Look what happened.

But OK. Oh my god. Like, for the five people who know what we're talking about. You know who you are.

OK, cool. So we meet the main Morrison's other daughter, and she's like, yeah, Rowan. She's playing out the field because she's a hair. Yeah.

And he's like rabbits, and they're like, it's a fucking hair. Get it straight. Hey, hey. That's a little rabbit.

It says fuck rabbits. Fuck rabbits. Yeah, fuck rabbits. You're here about hairs.

Also, what is the difference between a rabbit and hair? Oh, then the actress level. Do you think they have another difference? If her hair saw rabbit, it would be like, you're not me.

It would be like, yeah. They're like, oh, looks like my cousin. I don't see the issue. That's like when two dogs meet, and like one's two ships passing, and one's like a tiny pug and one's like a husky.

And they're like, we're the same thing. How in the world do you go? No, I don't even think of the same thing. I don't have different different planets.

You cannot even realize. Like a kick of his be like, a husky is made from the same ancestor. It's like a fucking, you know. Like a chihuahua.

Yeah, or something. But it is. But they aren't in the world. Thanks, Wolf.

Thanks Wolf. Thanks for doing it. Anyway, those are dog cats. Welcome to dog cats.

How will the wieners? Cute. A happy doggy pug. Wait, but also, I actually was thinking about this the other day, and again, Stangvary and Chalk.

If people want to just send us pictures of your pets in Halloween costumes, since Halloween is going to get her soon. Oh, fuck yeah. I mean, I don't want to speak for you, Cody. But would you like to post those?

Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, if you want your pet to be featured on her Instagram, why not?

Not you. Since you picture them, no. You like so much for listening. But like, instead of dog, we're interested in.

Yeah. I mean, look at if you're forced to do a bubble bee costume. Or a little snake wearing a party hat. I'll be like a mermaid's tail.

I'll be like a mermaid's tail. Anyway, I'm like, anyway. Or that. Or like, yeah.

Anyway, pet pictures. Cool. Yeah, because it's mid August. I mean, we're like, Halloween's around the corner.

I'm already like, morning people. And like, get ready. I'm just coming. I'm just coming.

I'm just acting crazy. I did go to Michael's other day. And there we have Halloween stuff. And I was just kind of rolling around.

I have to go and look at everything. Yeah. I did. And I'm Marc.

Thank you. I can dig yours, too. Anyway, so yeah. We're on more sit-as.

No where do you found she's down here. Who knows. I don't know. Right.

So here's where we really start to get introduced to the musical element of the movie. Surprise. It's the most. Surprise.

It's the musical. I was, again, sugar. Which is, to my mind, the best kind of surprise. Again, yes.

Surprise. Surprise. The park. This is technically musical.

Like, it's a movie that functions and drives the story through music. It was just like once. I was shook. This movie was basically once.

Got it. OK, so I can't remember the next word of events. point he sees there's like, pay-good shit happening and it's he's we're learning that he's a Christian man. Yeah, so he goes to the pub because he's like oh duh, he thought he would have be able to fly into this provincial town and figure it out immediately but he's like I haven't cracked the case yet.

So he decides to say overnight he goes to the pub right where you can also get a room because it's it's in yeah it's in also I will say to cut you off Algern McGregor the dumb ones the end if this was musical audio yeah I can tell he's like a sassy tenor who has a daughter he's like oh you wanna be a mister yeah but also his daughter that I sired don't worry about it right she's a girl in town absolutely definitely Swedish she did look very Scandinavian. Very Swedish but sorry go on so yeah yeah so oh but they do the thing where he walks into the pub and they're all playing me smacking tempering names and fucking like they don't bounce the cordians around and yeah he walks in and just cuts out. It is the jing boxes on point. I like that it's like something feels different it forces you to like feel the energy of the room.

Oh and then yeah so he meets Willow which most of the characters have like tree or flower names. Yes. Geezy Miss Rose, Willow. Rowan?

No no no. Rowan's mom's name is May so I mean like in their friends. Like come on. I mean like in their friends.

I mean like in their friends. I mean like in their friends. I mean like in their friends. Like in their friends.

They're in. Think about it. Think about it. I mean like in my mother May I.

So we meet Willow and Algern is like well just tell you tell your name. Yeah and I'm just thinking about the landlord's daughter. And they're thinking about like old man's owners. They're like my parents.

They have that attention and she's like the space between her left. I went her right to her plus. Yeah oh my god and she's just laughing. She's like probably fourteen is moving.

Yeah. Not the actress. But we're in here. I'm here.

Let's sing about it. This is where I go. Is this the musical because this is where they're singing about something that happens and it's like they all know the words and like it is still like drinking songies or they might know the words they're like every part. Yeah.

Okay, do you think first? And then I'm. What are Scottish names? Oh so what?

Fiona? Fiona. Fiona. Flora.

And then. Scottie. What are some Scottish names? Scotty.

They're all named Scott. People who lived for a month. We don't know. We will we will we only I think of one name of a person that we met Scotland.

So here's where we see he takes a look at photos on the wall and he's like interthing photos. It's black and white pictures of teenage-aged girls, one in every photo, standing in the middle of like a huge bouncy of harv. It's like I think of Whole Foods and you're like oh my god. You put all your groceries on the table and you're like I'm a health goddess.

She's standing amongst the pumpkins and the squash. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah.

Christine. Christine piss. Yeah. And they all have years on them.

So it's like 1971, 1970, and 1972 is missing. Is a blank spot on the wall. Oh my god. Where was it going?

And he goes what the fuck happened here? And they go oh it broke. Is that what he said it broke? Oh he said it got broke.

Oh see cuz I got you. Fun. So he doesn't think it's like anything open. Oh no photo fell.

That's why there's dust on him. I mean he's suspicious. So did they say they're put like dust around it so it looked like a photo. Not there.

And then they took it down when they knew it was coming down. But when of the photo of them with no crops because I don't crop that year. That's the whole reason they had them come. Oh we see that for a later.

What did it look like? I don't remember. Look at that. I love it.

I love it. Okay so he checks in the hotel and then he takes a little walk. This is where I was like the... I don't know what's going on with this movie but I like it.

So he sees. Well we definitely see but we don't know if he also sees. A bunch of people having sex in the dark. And it becomes like really choppy editing so emotion and the light is really big.

Yeah it's hard to see what's going on. I wasn't sure if he was seeing it or if it was just for us. I think he's seeing it because like I think the whole kind of... He's like what this is.

Yeah I think so he's seeing all this weird pig and stuff. And like his simple Christian ideals are like well there's people fucking. This isn't good. And they're not in the troll.

Ring. He goes up to people fucking. So we left him. And then so we also see he peers over the stones of a graveyard.

So like wall of a stone. The stone wall of a graveyard. I love that director wall of a stone. Bye.

Um here's over the stone wall of a graveyard and sees some people casually watering a grave. Oh my god I guess that. Which is like later because there's trees in the grave. And then we also see some naked woman just leaning against the grey stone just crying.

Which like big mood. I was like oh I thought that but niggas tits out crying. Oh my god. Okay so.

Niggas in my 20s. They're not there yet. Listen. He'll be soon.

Um okay great so. Okay so another weird okay he just keeps glimsing weird shit. So the next weird shit thing is he's peaking out the window and he sees what we later learn as Christopher Lee Lord Summer Isle. He's like leading this young boy and he's like take a look at that lady and Willow's like bouncing out the window like leaning out the window like hello.

This is where he has that monologue about like I could be one. The Christopher Lee okay so this little boy goes up presumably to bang Willow and then we hear them banging it out through the wall in the pleasing bedroom. Did you not have this? Not at all.

This is not all of my questions. Oh my god. I'm wasting. Yeah yeah go on.

They're what Chris Lee's wearing a um. Kilt. Uh and he has this monologue while he watches the little boy go up to the bedroom of Willow to clearly have some sort of like ritual infrogation. Yeah.

Um because like 10 year old should be fucking 15 year old girls. That's what they're moving. Yeah yeah. But it's a mood reversal of usually the way that these movies work out.

It's like well he's an old man but he has to fuck up 13 year old. Sorry just the way the gods wanted. Yeah also like I don't know. I don't want to.

Don't worry about it. Um yeah. Um but um Lord Summer Isle which the name of the island we're on is Summer Isle. He is the Lord.

Uh he has this monologue where he's where he's looking at these two snails kind of like crawling on each other and it looks like they're banging but I don't know how snails look great. Don't tell me. Oh well I have two right here. I got it.

He has this monologue about I think I could be one with the animals. I could live on their level. I understand them. Basically saying all they do is follow their B-seal instinctual needs which is like eating and fucking and that's like all they're about.

Clearly. I think what he may have seen was like or maybe I just saw a different cut because I remember reading that version where he talked about it because what he's the speech he's giving is based giving is based off of the wetmen poem of a similar title thing about living among the animals or something. Um uh so I think we just saw different movies. Oh so at the end of my movie he turns to a clown and he works on it.

Well at the end of mine he crawls out the TV. Any murder do you want to do? That turns around. That turns around.

That's the whole time. Oh my god. Because my thing was a little bit different. Essentially he said he was fucking and then he entered the bar again.

I remember because he entered the bar again and pushed him down the way immediately and was like what the fuck's going on. And then I think that's when he was like trampolos going on. I can't remember. I can't remember.

I think there were different cuts between the US and UK version. Yeah because it cuts to later he was in his room and he does hear Willow going around and she's like ooh back and suddenly. Oh okay. It's way later.

It's like right before the day of the sacrifice. Nope that wasn't mine. That's crazy. Weird yeah.

This is like the first night and he's like oh she's like my penis confused and then you know. Right that happened the night before the sacrifice version which I like because it was like a build to that like by the time we get to this point where like a horse she's like naked and right. Oh that is more fun that way. Yeah because it seems kind of weird that she was like I thought maybe she was just trying to fuck him too because she knew he was gonna be sacrificed eventually and she was like oh like are you sure you don't want to?

I don't know. I got it. Um yeah. Interesting.

One last push or one first push. One push only. Okay well okay that's so interesting that the like usually when there's differences of like international versions it's because things are edited out or added in. This sounds like it was edited like around definitely right.

Yeah oh yeah it does kind of change. I would have to now watch it all different ways. Yeah. Just like you're actually.

Um next day is an April day. And then there was a dream. And then there was a man. Okay.

Do you want me to do or do you want to go for it? Um let's just tag team this. Let's tag team this. Okay so yeah we cut to the next day.

Yes. We've been walking around and expecting the town and oh what's going on? A bunch of pubescent boys are gathered on a maple and some like de Martin looking. It's very yeah right.

It's like a kangaroo. Yeah. They'll have all the boys have like the maple ribbons tighter on their waist. It's like shooting out of their crotch like just dying dicks.

Oh you're right. And they were doing like kind of the rusty move. They were rusting and like wiggling the maple thing. So and and while they're doing this it's a full-out musical number.

Like it is. Even like the recording style of it in the orchestration. It's like a musical number. Yeah the ganto studios.

Yes. And they're like okay they would have to be rude. Um so they're dancing on this maple and the man is singing a song about once there was a man and then there was a woman in the man like oh the woman in the head of seed. Wait can I please please never it.

Basically he's like someone seed I remember I remember I remember I kind of became a bird. And then he's like I know that I don't know that. I know that. I know that.

I know. It doesn't pop my hand. Wait and then he's like then he's like well they're like oh!! Everythingdie is like the girl.

It's that boy was a seed. And it was that baby that baby was a boy that and the man died. And it's smart because it icon creves up on you. And it's not like Devils above you because you're like okay this is interesting like a little And they're like, are they singing about fun?

And then you see the ribbons and you're like, is that dick? Are they all dicks? These are all penises, they're all boys. Well, because this song I guess could be interesting.

It's essentially saying this bird crate of father was created in a bed which created a copy, which created a baby which created another death which created grass. So it's very circle of life. It's essentially the opening scene of the liking. It's better actually.

But then yeah, then it cuts too, because how he's looking at the school and this rose is like, hey, students, what's up with this? So it's funny because as you as the audience are like, that's not really fell like. We cut to a school house that is next to the maple and it's called Only Girls. So clearly there's gender separation in the sound.

Is it? I mean, for me with me. Oh my god. Oh, that's beautiful.

Did you forget why? No, I was just like, what? Why would you only want to be with boys, Cody? No, I don't.

So we go into the school house and as we're thinking, that's pretty peenasy. The teacher's like, so what did the maple and her grandchildren and all the girls go, the ballads. Oh my god. Which don't I don't think I know what that word was.

No way. No way. No way. No way.

No way. No way. No way. No way.

No way. No way. No way. No way.

No way. Well, yeah, just in case you didn't know how that fella's was, the teacher goes, Yes. He had a religion we are about to love peenasi. Who loves him.

He's like he loves him. And as the guy walks in, he's like. aftili pow. watching his fullCale.

So this is some nasty Ashau. You go roles are nasty. He's like, she's mimicking the minds of the children. She's like, Wha at Rowan Morissen, I've never heard of her.

And my customers are like, Ella hurt. Two have a hootn baithe. And he's like, That's weird, there's an empty dance. Because they're like, what?

And like, he's like, give me that attended to you. Are the beetle fur? the beetle the beetle, or just because the girl who is like, oh I tied that beetle around, he was just 21 years old. I looked at her because I was like, that's a double ground.

She's 21. So he opens the desk and that is empty that he thinks he assumes he's Rowan, that is a girl's desk. And inside of it is a beetle tied to a string that is tied to a nail, and the beetle is circling around the nail just like walking herself. Until it walks to the center of it and dies.

And he's like, why are you doing this? And the girl who's 21 but playing with the girls who's like, I like, can I get a beetle? She's like, oh yeah, because she listened to the band the beetles and not to do. Oh, she's like, I was just gonna spin around until it dies essentially.

Why are you acting like you're a child? You're growing. What'd it be? He's like, you know I find myself in time.

You know? I like the time of beetle out. But I just like, he's like, wow, fuck yeah, when he does see the attendance sheets, I like that he's like, wow, we were all fucking liars. He looks like he's the biggest cunt.

Yeah. He starts ripping their head. Wow. Wow.

Oh, oh, okay. Well they'll skate in her. I don't know where to go. Rowan, I don't know where to go.

I don't know where to go. I don't know her. So none of you know her. Oh, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry, does her attendance sheet? Oh, it says here that her favorite team is Rocky Road, which doesn't go here. Her favorite cartoon is Rocky and Bo Winkle.

Oh. Very cute. She likes rocks. It says the Rocky Road, he said Rocky and Bo Winkle.

Rock, baby. Yeah, so then the teacher starts doing a really sweaty explanation of what they meant by like, she's like, okay, so, listen up, Mr. Police Man. So, okay, let me say, like we didn't really know Rowan.

And no. Right, okay, so sorry. He's basically saying we don't believe that you truly die here. Your spirit doesn't necessarily get resurrected, but it helps create new life.

Yes, it's like cool things, girl. So like if you die, you're going to help those tomatoes grow. Thank you so much. Thanks, fertilizer.

Yes, which is not untrue. No, I mean, it's something. I mean, again, circled life. Yeah, let's eat the grass.

Santa is an apology. Real. I love him. I'm 20.
