This episode of the Wild Card Podcast is brought to you by that guy. That guy who passes you and then goes slower. Because apparently he had somewhere he really had to be and he had to get there immediately because he's so important. But then he gets in front of you and all of a sudden he can slow down because he's more important than you and he dictates his speed.
He just doesn't work on you. Hey fuck you buddy! Gah! Welcome to the Wild Card Podcast.
I'm your host, Jared Eaton, and my co-pilots on this journey to wherever are my good friends, Jeff Curtis. I apologize to you in advance. And the ultimate challenge, Ron Blair. Hello everybody, it's great to be here.
You know, just after last week's episode, if you decided to tune in, thank you. But I almost feel like a slight... It was the best episode of any podcast ever in perpetuity. A slight apology to Ron Blair because apparently there were people who enjoyed it.
And they were great many. And I doubt it, but people seem to... If you're listening to this, then you're still listening to this. The moral is, just trust me.
I don't mind that moment. And I never ever go wrong. Well, we'll have to do that on a case by case phase. That's probably fine.
Well, thank you for joining us on our Wild Card Podcast where we do whatever it is we do. We like to begin every week with a discussion of our personal natures, the demand that we are. And letting you, the listener, get to know us better. So we always start with a favorite of sorts.
I don't know how well I'm going to explain this question. I'm going to attempt it. I don't know how well I'm going to attempt it to explain. I want you to name your favorite supervillain from a comic book, but not just like your favorite supervillain, the one who has a weird archetype.
So it seems like in most superhero comics there's the bad guy who was in an industrial accident, all of a sudden he becomes the nature of whatever he worked with. Right. So like Sandman is made of sand. So I want you to come up with the weirdest archetype of a supervillain that you can think of.
So not necessarily our favorite, but the weirdest. No, like your favorite weird one. So the joke is out because that's like a normal. Okay.
Just to make me feel into that. I'm asking the crazy dude. Oh man. I'll start with one.
There was a guy in the industrial accident one that gave you mine, but there's someone called the brick wall. And he was a Spider-Man villain. And he was a brick wall with a face and legs and arms. But he was just a brick wall.
That's awesome. It was incredible. And you just saw like Spider-Man punching him in like Spider-Man's hand hurts because he punched brick wall. It was glorious.
Or another Spider-Man went to Mysterio. You know Mysterio? I'm barely familiar. Mysterio was a special effects guy who worked in the film industry and then all of a sudden he started using those special effects to like confuse people and trick them.
And Robin Banks were in the film. Absolutely. He was supposed to be in the same trilogy. I think they were going to add him eventually and he was going to be played by Ashrami.
Oh Bruce Campbell was going to play him. Bruce Campbell was going to play the brick wall. The special effects guy. Another example.
Calendar Man. The only performance from on specific holidays. Because I'm reading the long, long Halloween. That's a different one.
Right. The long Halloween which is a holiday. He also like the calendar man murders on holidays. The calendar man is like, oh I'm not going to help you.
It's not me. Which is great. So those are some examples of what I'm looking for. I know I didn't phrase the question well but.
No I understand the question. Go ahead. Well it's just not a joke around. All the jokeers might go through.
I followed by the thriller The Penguin and Cat. The Penguin and the Except of Blancer here? His archetype is he has penguins everywhere. Like he just all of his penguins would be.
Okay I see what you're saying. I sure. No I love him. He's actually my second favorite comic book villainable.
Can you think of a least of the less intimidating themes? Like he's not an intimidating theme. He's not a large person. He doesn't fight well.
His arsenal is a bunch of umbrellas which can be dodged pretty well. There's no fight that I've ever seen in a comic book or a video game where Batman just didn't walk his ass so quick. Right. So he's never a real fan of a man.
It's schemes. It's schemes in the people he surrounds himself with. And you know it's very manipulative. He's very manipulative.
Riddler as well is a fun one. Riddler is so much fun. Yeah. Yeah and I'm largely a Batman fan although I prefer Marvel Comics.
I agree. But no, a friendler and penguin. I love those. I love them.
Yeah I guess look at me. Expectantly here comes the wisdom. Well as a child I was never into Batman or Superman or any of those guys so I don't know their supervillains other than the ones I've seen in movies. Sure.
So I always liked Sergeant Rock. That was my kind of comic books. I'm not familiar with that. Sergeant Rock and his band of soldiers that he would lead against the different Nazis in each episode and know he'd have his little adventures and there's him and there was the Indian that was part of the group and there was these characters, these five or six characters that you could always count on to be a part of the Sergeant Rock.
The ones were just Nazis. They were rockers. And so then the other comics that I like were there was another army comic book series called The Losers. And I like them.
The movie based on that. It's very good. They would always find themselves in, unlike Sergeant Rock which is more heroic. Losers always were more anti-heroes.
They're kind of 18. Yeah. That's a snap which means. So I'm all kind of.
Yeah. Chris Evans was in the movie and so it's recent. Yeah. Well the comics not.
The guy who played in Watch when he played the comedian he plays Negan. He plays Niegan. Oh. It's been so long since I was in the Watchman.
Oh, it's good. And then there was, there's a couple of cowboy ones that I used to do. I don't have a supervillain. I just think it's so interesting how you'll look at, I mean when I was a kid I would watch comic book cartoons and things like that and it's fine I always find like Electro who is the electrostakeer.
The shocker is the sound wave guy. Vulture is an old guy with wings. Yeah. So that's the difference between shocker and electro.
Yeah. I was never aware of that. I was just thought yeah thank you. I'll sleep better.
I'll improvise a lot of things. I watch underdog. I can't think of them up. I was sitting here.
I was sitting here. That's awesome. Yeah. I remember underdog.
Well, it was an interesting discussion. I apologize for making such a ridiculous day. But no less. What did you?
I was the brick wall. That's right. I'm on a ten minute last week. A special effects topic.
Imagine him having fireworks. He throws and distract people. That's something you would think of him as dangerous and yet he's one of the more interesting films because he's a psychological villain. Right, yeah.
I guess we'll now transition to the main topic for today's episode. I've prepared a report for you all. It is about a video game slash a game character and so just initial video game experiences. What are your what is your standing with video games?
Well, I don't play a whole lot of video games. I've played right now. I play Candy Crush and Sims I used to play a game called Age of Empires My brother and I used to play against each other online. We used to play myth.
I love myth and I couldn't understand I'm not smart enough to play the game Think about myth was there was the one the stories that they had that you could play But then they had this plug-in that where you could actually design your own games and play against each other and you could do it with like Changing them to like army guys. So we'd have tanks and we would we'd have options We'd have all these so you'd have these spies and tanks and and RPGs and you'd be trying to capture the other person's flag That's really intense and you could have up to six players playing at the same time Yeah, that was the only multiplayer game I ever did but before that then there it was the dark ages because I didn't have a computer We didn't really have very many arcades. I mean we're growing up in the middle of freaking nowhere in Colorado We play we play Pac-Man once in a while and you know if you went to pizza and they would have a gal We got there exactly and you know when I was in high school my senior year We did computer programming it was on the original Apple twos and so we had there which had no hard drive in them And you'd have these like these giant floppy disks that you do everything on and so you know We play games like pong and things like that on them But that's and then I went from that to college and no computers for a long time and right? I was I was born in 1973 so I grew up with video games I was the market for video games in 1976 my dad brought home a pong Dial and you would hook it up to the television that was amazing and Atari came out and we had one of those and I had an Intellivision and a kleeco vision and then I'm into entertainment system and turbo graphics super Nintendo I yeah, there's not even now today my free time is mostly spent if I'm not writing or at the theater or working I'm playing I'll be playing video game and you can count on that.
You can absolutely You're the market for this topic. I am the absolute market for it I was read I'm the market that they hit from the very beginning of time And I'm still the middle-aged market which there's I grew up playing video to bring back a lot of characters from remember this character this character absolutely fall in love with I mean I grew up and I didn't have a I got a game boy the original game boy was pretty sweet It was pretty cool when they first came out my first home console I had was in Nintendo 64 which were awesome Those were awesome. It makes no sense, but I remember playing Mario 64 Yeah, there's a weird yellow joystick that makes the camera After having watched other friends who had super Nintendo's watching and play side scrolling tomorrow I'll be able to move him in any direction you wish was we know the fun and fathomable the funny thing about that is We never played the super Nintendo going man. I just wish there was something more you could do with Mario You weren't like boy.
I can't wait till Mario 3d comes out. You just thought this is it You're like this is it'll know my brother-in-law He's my brother-in-law now back then I had my wife But we were playing a PlayStation one and he said well there'll never be better graphics than PlayStation one It was like this look like real people and then you know three general and three console generations later You're still going holy shit. I'll never get better than this. This is beautiful.
Yeah, I love it Yeah, well today's topic is about a video game character and I'm going to ask you the question Please don't let it be pervy. It's not curvy. It's not curvy. Who this character okay?
Which Nintendo character was ranked as the eighth greatest hero and eighth greatest villain by Nintendo Power Magazine in 2010 Well the hero and villain eighth greatest hero and eighth greatest villain by Nintendo that would be my boy Donkey Kong It's my favorite character. I love Donkey Kong I've always said that I wanted to see my favorite character Rambo and my favorite character Donkey Kong do a scuffle Like what are the odds that Donkey Kong would win it depends upon the There's so much factors that go into Rambo Exactly you micromanage this in your head you're like how would Rambo fare that and he would use the camouflage But dr. Comes that super straight. Don't you come?
Don't you come? I love you. I love gorillas. So being able to watch this character.
You know playing him is growing up So this entire course about Donkey Kong. Oh my god. I'm in heaven Donkey Kong also known as DK is an eight from Donkey Kong Island and the main protagonist of the Donkey Kong franchise However, he is also in portrays a villain of publications as seen in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series Why is he a villain and a hero?
Donkey Kong a translation a mistranslation from King Kong by the way I was gonna ask you to jump in as well. It was also jump in Because Mario is saving his girlfriend Pauline from Donkey Kong who is at the top of the girder We have to jump in I believe the original you have three scenarios that you had to go through With the jumping jacks in the final and if you didn't don't keep on was supposed to be Mario's pet gorilla No, I was like he was mad Mario for not being a jump in for not being a good owner So this is how we also was also like this almost love triangle So it's like Frankenstein It's a Nintendo he got his own series where he was the good guy He was the ring the Mario brothers game which was one screen you remember this it was one screen It was the introduction Mario and Ouija after Donkey Kong because they took the little plumber character and moved him into an area where you Have little crabs and turtles coming out of the side of the screen and then you and Luigi would have to defeat each one and Had the little pal yeah, but there you'd have to Flip things over and the turtles would fall down and you'd have to do that But without Donkey Kong it was boring to me well Donkey Kong guys own series Donkey Kong country of games That's what my and that's much later in the super Nintendo years knows is but that's kind of where my love for the character came from Okay, did you cover Donkey Kong Junior Donkey Kong three years? I'm sure I didn't talk there I mean there were hundreds of games in which don't come to feature And I gloss over quite a few of them, but I do go for the main not to tell you your business Sir, I'm not here to tell you your business in 1981 Nintendo was pursuing a license to make a game based on the pop icon Extra when this fell through Nintendo decided that it would take the opportunity to create new characters that could then be marketed and used in later games Shigeru Miyamoto came up with many characters and plot concepts But eventually settled on a gorilla carpenter girlfriend loves triangle that mirror the rivalry between Bluto and Popeye and olive oil Brilliant me and I was brilliant You know that he did so much Bluto blue toe was replaced by an eight the pet of the main character which me a moto said was nothing too evil or repulsive Mio as also named beauty in the beast and the 1933 film King Kong as influences for the characters Beautiful now, do you know where the name actually came from? I have no idea where the name Donkey Kong is it seriously not a mistranslation of it's not a mistranslation I'll give it to you Miyamoto says he chose the name donkey to reflect the characters you pity Was considered a generic term for large aces in Japan so the word call is in both because it means eight Or at night.
It was like a version of eight there. I do know there was a lawsuit in which me a moto one Sorry to jump forward That's a lot of facts We'll do it Miyamoto was informed by Nintendo America that the word donkey is not a synonym for idiot in English despite what the dictionary he consulted said But me a motor decided to ignore this particular suggestion because he liked the name Donkey Kong Go Miyamoto donkey means it right now it is you don't tell should you He tells you he's the boss of everything absolutely Donkey Kong was redesigned later on for the Super Nintendo in a game of seven in 1994 by former rare character artist Kevin Bayless He presented the modern lieutenant though was immediately approved although character design has been tweaked over the years Donkey Kong's appearance remains consistent to this day when Bayless last modified him So if you look at Donkey Kong he's typically just a gorilla with like a brown shirt He's almost like an ice cream twisted hair at the top. Yeah, it's almost like a pompadour Yeah, kind of thing and he always has the red and blue k on it and that was kind of In 1994 when Bayless was born to be in that time. Yeah, that's when the donkey konlok was really became really developed It's like a cartoon having been out right.
Well, so you and knowing Sorry Jeff this I look at you want me. Yeah, I'm so good Apparently I present reports that only relate to myself and Ron because I did a fried chicken episode that for our vegetarian friend over here Yeah, so Ron. Yeah, this question is directed at you Notable powers slash abilities that don't give on possesses. Okay, don't keep on a super strong tremendous strength When he dumps up in the air you compound the ground The report I found on the super Mario wiki.
Yeah, I'll give him superb swinging skills. Yeah, I was thinking about that Tame animals On All these animals are large enough for the real I think he's listed one of the games as 800 pounds. So yeah But the frog can lift as you know from times they're body weight up Fact from Ripley's believe it or not It's like it's a leaping up in the air. This is a super frog.
Yes. We need a lot of toxic waste in me By-pounds in modern games and this is a book it is later Donkey Kong is capable of using bongos as a weapon Yeah, and most importantly he possesses and unlimited supply barrels and that's yeah We rely on him to supply barrels Use that as a weapon And then even as he became a man, he would still use barrels Yeah, he would in the video games he would pick him up and sometimes there would be An extra man in a barrel or explosive or ditty Kong was in the barrel or explosive in the barrel or sometimes it was a cake Okay, yeah, so was Mario able to defeat Donkey Kong and save his girlfriend Not to miss it. He takes the girders out from under him and up donkey But don't you come obviously survives that to be later games, so he's a bad And if you don't know the mythology, it's gonna blow your mind in a second. I'm gonna I'm gonna we're gonna get into some DK game Oh We're gonna start with the original though Donkey Kong 1981 Donkey Kong's first appearance is in the arcade game of the same name Where he is the main enemy in the game Donkey Kong was the pet gorilla of Jumpman later renamed Mario But he escapes and angrily carries Mario's girlfriend Pauline to the top of a high construction site Very King Kongish very yeah, very King Kong.
He is pursued by Mario and attacks him by throwing barrels and creating living fire to the tune of Ticada one few as one does when it's only she angry you create living fire You create living fire Jeff if you don't know there's a burn barrel at the bottom of the section of the barrel falls into the burn barrel Obviously I was looking for size I was looking for 30 does he throw it does he breathe it? I was wondering how does not create living fire? I That So much today I'm here for you Is eventually pursued to the top of the construction site where Mario causes the bars supporting it to crash Sitting him to the ground now. Did you guys play that original game?
Yes? Recall I did I do remember seeing it at Pizza Hut or well I was more likely to play Pac-Man. Yeah, that was my Different go-to's for different people and the 80s were very much the age of the arcade we would go there and you Go the options. Yeah, even as a child you could check out the the Mach 3 guy and the Dragons layer guy and the pack man guy and the donkey I'm gonna be a little bit worse.
I you know that's it and I wasted so much of my dad's salary his mom's school teachers salary Just feed money into the games one after another. That's probably why he was eager to bring consoles home So that I would stop wasting all this work Well, I sat when I spent a lot of time with I remember in Donkey Kong 64 We can get you later one of the things you had to do in that game was play the original Yes, I was so bad at it Because games didn't use the whole your hand you know you don't know how hard video games used to be until you've played all these modern video games And then you go back and try to play pitfall First level on that one it's the level of difficulty is stupid. Yeah, that's Jeff Then again The thing back then the whole they wanted you to keep spinning more quarters so more It was right from the beginning the better for them Like size-rolling shooters I think that was right. Yeah, the motive is different now The motive is to keep you playing to keep you coming back and keep you on the app or to the next one the game is like that So if it's too hard you can give up and you don't you don't keep playing the game So they want to make it difficult to keep you interested but not so difficult that you say well fuck it Well, and I think that's where some of the two-minute games failed is that they can for me they reach up in such a difficulty That I said I'm not having fun anymore with this.
I'm gonna just chuck it in there's been a resurgence recently a very challenging video Yeah, you play the Dark Souls series No, but I have heard I've heard cable play my son killed and he'll just scream from the other room Because it's like your it actually treats your health bar like something It's real most games you can be a bullet sponge and he shot and shot and keep going with this game It's like you're fighting things that are bigger than you and they swing a sword at you if they hit you Yeah, that's it's all for it. Okay. I'm tired of dying. He gets tired of dying every five seconds I've watched them down every five seconds They like in terms of the mechanic you want to catch and then when you win you feel like you've achieved something whereas in many video games, it's like I'm not gonna hurt and it's fine I get through easily there's a trend with somebody who just be that difficult where you really feel rewarded and even to You know, I don't think I was like flappy bird when that was popular It was a mobile phone when you're phone where you just you push a button to make the bird fly and you avoid pipes I have played that for 30 seconds.
Yeah, that's not a fun game. Where the fun comes from this I must achieve the high score. I must because there's no end of the game. It's just a how many people can get on right?
But you get that reward from the I beat that score I've gotten better than so there's a little bit of resurgence of some Different in general they used to be much more challenging than they are now But for someone like me who gives up easily I don't want to play those games. Well, the sequel to Donkey Kong was Donkey Kong Jr. In 1982 in fact Mario was the bad man. Mario was this I think it's the only game I believe in which Mario was the antagonist Yeah, I believe you're correct on that.
Don't come reappeared that following year in the sequel Donkey Kong Jr. Arcade style platform game on Nintendo. It's upon a star Donkey Kong Jr. Also simply called Junior or DK Junior.
He's trying to rescue his father Donkey Kong who has been imprisoned Donkey Kong's cage is guarded by Mario So good very very similar mechanics, but very good platform game But in this one I believe you had a swing from from Several Several finds the movie in fact if you play Donkey Kong country a lot of these character models can reappear later in where um Sophisticated forms, but it's still the same time. I'm a little guy coming up there to get you. I've never played Donkey Kong Jr. I remember the character because he was in one of Mario Kart games.
Yeah, I'm like I don't know I know I do dokikong Jr. Wasn't I played that game until I realized it was one of the older ones? Mm-hmm But pretty good the pretty thing and then the sequel to Donkey Kong Jr. Oh god is Donkey Kong 3 in 1983 in which you fight bees You're you're a little again your little guy.
You're a little guy Donkey Kong resumes his antagonist a girl in Donkey Kong All this time he does not fight with Mario who had gone on a star his own series Right, it's just a Range inside a greenhouse and the hero is you know his name. I don't remember his name an exterminator named Stanley Stanley It's a whole game and it's awful. It's a suggested in some of the sides I'm looking at he is a possible cousin of Mario. Oh, you know Luigi is like the much malignment of brother right Stanley the cousin is Family the Italian even less popular.
Yeah, such an Italian name. Yes, he has to use insect repellent as his weapon It's probably Mario's Polish company Yeah, exactly This is But it was spraying the spray at bugs and up Donkey Kong's butt It's true Donkey Kong was coming down from the ceiling and he gets to the bottom. He like greats his waves and all the plants die That's that's the game. It's one of those games where even as a 12 year old I went this is fucking stupid I don't know if it's any more than $1 developing this.
Yeah, yeah Well, you know it gets to a point like with anything where you go well We're just gonna write on the name here and we're gonna give us a hard game and it was it decided to say that So often you would see where they had the idea for a game And it would be like well, that's a dumb game But if we put these characters at it right then people buy it because they know the character name even though why is Donkey Kong in this greenhouse? Right, it's not it's just getting money It's like we had a game about a greenhouse, but if we put Donkey Kong in a little certainly sell Did you ever play Super Mario Brothers 2? Super Mario On the Nintendo It was almost like a role-playing game You could play You could play sell characters in Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach Yes, absolutely You'd pick up vegetables and throw vegetables and you could jump on the star like world and then you would switch to pick it up What was it? Still coins there was some points I think But you jump on in and where as in the original Super Mario Brothers you jump on and you squish them And this when you jump on them and then you pick them up and throw them Yeah, they'll flip upside down and you meet Birdo and she would shoot eggs out of her nose You jump on the eggs and pick up the eggs out of the air Which is that?
That's a fun villain to fight against though. Those fights are just enjoyable But that's another example of a game that was not supposed to be a Mario game Oh, it was a game that was licensed for some reason but people are like this is strange Why am I throwing turnips? The Beast? And they add the Mario characters to it to try to bring it some inspiration And that's one of my favorite Super Mario Brothers 3 is the most favorite but Super Mario World is my favorite Super Mario 3 was very advanced for the Nintendo Entertainment Center Because you could fly, you could fly, you could fly and you got the Kate and all that And it was still platforming But again it added some RPG element I don't know what it was in that But it was the overworld when you went down and everyone said well You would get a little treat from it or you could go to the hospital Then we would get a shortcut Yeah, it was really filled with a lot more than just the game Flying ships, you know the flying ships were always fun too No, the Hammer Brothers were always fun And I kept it You guys felt more to play video games than I did By the time I was born they they was a juggernaut of marketing Redirection Well, in fact Ron's favorite video game of all time Oh god I tried playing that recently using a Raspberry Pi system which is a computer system Specifically for playing class games It would hold several emulators And I would play a what was that again?
E.T. E.T. Holy shit, I can't believe we ever gave any time whatsoever to this horrible awful game It really is the worst game in the third video game It was really one of the ones that bought about the death of the deviant The Atari and the crash of the game It was a great concern and I just saw a documentary about this That in 83 they were actually selling Atari games for like five bucks in this bin Because they had produced so many marketed so many that nobody wanted to buy these games And you just throw them in you'd create a game in a month Yeah, and you'd sell it and you'd start next one You're just like they're popping out game after game with not much innovation And there were no licensing agreements back then So you could if you knew how to make an Atari game You could make and market an Atari game and the consoles were created So you could still play those games And so you had everybody in their mother just flooding the market with very similar games Not offices other games And then yeah between 83 and 85 I'd say until the the Nintendo Entertainment System System was released There was a little bit of doubt whether video games were just a fad That we're gonna go by the wayside pretty quickly And then you see what happens in hindsight Well, I was in college in 83 and 85 I didn't have money You were still looking at the video games no matter which half order We're still buying vinyl albums most of the night I've seen these throughout but mostly we're buying vinyl or cassettes Well, you know you see people who condemn video games But it's just another form of escapism We all have a thing that we go to when we just want to get away for a little while And for me when I was really young it was books I love getting into the adventure of these books And the video games are just This is gonna sound maybe a little crude But they're video- they're books you can play Yeah, they absolutely are And there's been a lot of- You are in control of the story in some ways And you get to participate as opposed to just kind of being a bystander Right, there's been a lot of debate over whether video games should be considered artwork I feel that they are 100% sure And some of these are- They're still scared but there are some that's beautiful It's bad art with all art Exactly It's gorgeous but let me stop you right there Speaking of escapism Next Sunday My family and I are going to King's Island three hours away Instead of going to the cast party I know a cast party is a lot of fun But until you can build a long flooming in your backyard I'm just gonna have to go with King's Island I haven't been there in a decade I'm so ready to go Are you rollercoaster fan? Absolutely, they have a- The beat, 10 to 13 rollercoaster now Only ones in the new ones Or the beat of the scene Just outside of Cincinnati, just north of Cincinnati But as a large person I was kicked off of a ride after I spent an hour and a half in line and then I sat in the seat And I was like I can't get the seat close and they were like Yeah, fat ass, you're gonna have to get it off And sorry about the hour and a half you wasted it, Kentucky Kingdom Yeah, not the greatest place anyway But that was an hour and a half that I wanted to get back And so now I have this anxiety But next week- Stepping into the line Yeah, it's not even because they have carts that are out front now Like little cars that you can sit in and see your large enough Enough people complain like this That they put these carts out front But what worries me is that The log flume always scares me because I love the log flume But I'm like what if I'm so heavy that I plug up the flow of water That's going around it and I just stop And they have to get a little inbred boy with a stick to kind of push me Along back into the flowing water That is a terror of mud And I'm actually worried about this Yeah, well I suggest it would be that don't do the log flume Or I have to do the log flume Well, they have to I've got a snorkel and a- That you can borrow and take with you What I'm going to do is lift some weights during the next week Do some crunches That's not going to eat well Thank you down Well, I was going to talk about Crunchwrap It's not kind of crunch It is a crunchwrap, yeah, it's not going to be much better Well, then I'm going to go back to the drawing board And figure out a new plan for next Sunday Uh, take some grease with you That's a good idea The next thing Crunchwrap also is not going to be a crunch Jeff, are you in a amusement park fan?
I do like a amusement park But again, I grew up in Creek, Colorado 50 miles from there That's awful So, you know, I- When I was a child we went to Texas a couple of times Once for my- For my uncle's wedding and we went to Six Flags And then we went there the next year For a reason I don't remember the reason I was real little And like, you know what, Six Flags You know, my parents weren't big on rollercoats But I enjoyed the amusement park And there was this log ride I guess Where you were riding the boat and then they splice at the end Yes, yes, absolutely So I enjoyed that And then before we moved to Creek When we were living in Monte Vista There used to be, you know, how these traveling fairs come Yeah, in the Kroger Park Yeah, in the Kroger Park So those would come by every year So we'd go and so we'd ride on their little bumper cars And stuff like that They don't have really rollercoasters though No, no, no, no, no Some of them would get you looking at the little alligator with kids So I think I was I think I was in high school before I ever really rode a roller coaster A real roller coaster for the first time It was probably after I was at least in high school I might have been in college before I actually was able to start riding rollercoasters You know, because we weren't there And we didn't live close enough To drive to any amusement parks Unless we were visiting someone else Unless we were visiting someone Well, I take that back We went to California and visited my Ani Kay And we went to the roller coaster at Disney World So those would have been my first experiences But I would have been in high school when we did that And so that would have been a one-off thing That we then didn't do again for a number of years So I was in college before I started riding rollercoasters Regularly or whenever I could And being able to have a lot more fun doing that And yeah Ron, have you been to Cedar Point? I've not That's one of the holy grahams That I have in Universal Studios I've never been there at all Oh, you've never been there at the time I really want to go to Universal Studios As a kid we went to Disney World That's just a movie, though Yeah, exactly Probably from the time I was born to the time I was 14 I had probably been to Disney World six, seven times Bush Gardens in Virginia I had gone to Yeah, it's very primal Speaking of primates After the original Donkey Kong Mario went on to become Nintendo's primary mascot While Donkey Kong and his son were relegated to supporting roles in cameos The 1994 Game Boy version of the original Donkey Kong marked his re-emergence as a major character This is when he was redesigned, appearing for the first time with his signature red neck time Which occasionally bears his initials D.K Now we get to this game that started in my love of the character His first protagonist role, Donkey Kong Country, 1994 Excellent game On Super Nintendo Outstand again, but again Great late banjos and 6 KK Western time It's funny to say that because the beginning of the When the title sequence shows up, it is a banjos There's a banjos One the same company, the same company The makes it rare, it also made banjo Kazooie A different game that came on Which is an excellent platform made in its own right Donkey Kong, this is the story After investigating his Kong's banana horde Locating just below his home And discovering that his banana horde has disappeared Empty In varks on a journey with his nephew D Kong To recover it from King K. Rool King K. Rool Great villain And the Kremlin And his Kremlin, yeah Kremlin's Different there are so many different types of families Some of the hops, some of the big military Sargents that you can't, I think you can hop on top of them But you can roll through them Yeah, Donkey Kong, we know that's good Genshin, they're two different characters you can play Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong is the big gorilla And Diddy is a chimpanzee So we jump higher And he's faster, but he also doesn't have a strength Yeah, he's weak There's something that he can't beat It's a very difficult concept But if you're looking to get to a secret area Diddy Kong is actually better to use because Diddy Kong is actually better to use Diddy Kong is actually better to use because we'll be there I'm gonna knock him over and over again Exactly We're doing a lot of motions with our hands at the listening scene You're not able to see them, that's fine Donkey Kong is a platform game where players must complete 40 different side-srolling levels Much like the Mario's They're hard Yeah, and we're covering the bananas, the big ones Each level is uniquely themed and consists of varying tasks Such as swimming, riding in mine carts, launching out of barrel cannons Or swinging from behind a vine Donkey Kong Country was one of the first games for a mainstream home Video game console to use pre-rendered 3D graphics Yeah, it was totally It was almost like when the California raisins came out You went holy shit, look at the animation on this So when you look at Donkey Kong, you went I've never seen this before, it's not a cartoon It's more polygonal Even if you look at one of my favorite games of all time Maybe my favorite Super Mario World Kind of the overlaid map as well You feel like it's a flat character on a flat background You're still controlling them, but Donkey Kong Country It's while it's still a 2D game going side to side You feel like the world is deeper Yeah, there's a great depth to it And there are enough hidden areas Oh, I could sing as great as all that I will Donkey Kong Country was a very successful game Finally, in November 1994, receiving critical acclaim And high praise and retrospective reviews With an 89% approval rating at the review aggregator game rankings Many critics considered that Donkey Kong Country Saved the Super Nintendo Entertainment System From the growing influence of rivals Such as the new PlayStation and the rising popularity of Sega It's on the Sonic the Hedgehog series Yeah, the Genesis really competed Yeah, Nintendo in the 90s Game mile hard way to go I've been able to Dreamcast For some reason failed, but it was the most beautiful system I never had one Oh, it was gorgeous It was fantastic, Dreamcast was great It failed because I didn't have the games I think it was the marketing And the games the third game was the regular game It wasn't odd, it was a very odd game It was the two choices It was very weird, but it had the display As well, it had the LCD LED LED I think I'll see you that time Display on the controller That would give you further information That your screen didn't have So you could take a glance down And see where you were Sort of like texting while you're driving A lot like that One thing you'll notice with the video game consoles now Is the video game consoles coming every few years Like a new round for each company that produces an Xbox Xbox 360, Xbox One PlayStation, PlayStation 2, 3, 4 And Xbox S, which is like an Xbox One and a half I guess What's the difference between the consoles?
You know, I'm not really sure Well, we're talking about that What's the Nintendo has in control? Nintendo, are you talking about like within the PlayStation? Or between PlayStation? I don't know what I'm talking about I'm talking about what you guys said If you're talking about that coming out with new consoles Why would you do the consoles So they can get to play the old games And they'll only play the new games And so they have to buy new consoles Is there a different control on them?
I think that's what it comes down to Is so that you'll spend more money for a percentage better graphics And they have been Do you compare PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 4? Oh, it's massive Even between 3 and 4, massive Yeah You know The controllers have changed a bit over the year They become more sensitive They give you some more options But honestly, PlayStation controllers are pretty similar Xbox controllers are pretty similar New features Nintendo's the one that's changed the most from console to console You go to Super Nintendo to Nintendo 64 Where you have this airplane controller Thing to really offer To the GameCube that you've only given a less sense I felt like I was Holding a piece of cardboard when I'm playing it It's so light It gives you no heft And then you go to the Nintendo Wii Which Nintendo Wii can all of it's merit onto this motion control You had this in your hand and you controlling some motion But the games didn't always seem to be intuitive The buttons on the controllers were odd Like the Wii sports were kind of fun But when you're trying to play a more challenging game Right These aren't working well Well when you're done watching little The same Nintendo characters play Bowling Yeah You know how long are you gonna play that bowling game before you go? This is the game I can't play golf And then the golf game is super fun And then the Nintendo Wii U is the newest one as well It's got this other new thing That Nintendo Switch out Nintendo is very gimmick based Can you play the old games on the new console? Nintendo, definitely not Nintendo is never so You have to hold out to your old console to play the old game I'm really excited Some of the newer systems have a virtual console online Yeah, PlayStation now I fiddled with a little bit And got rid of before my seven day free trial was over But it was the library of PS3 games That you could purchase on there Or the thing you gave for free As long as you're paying $20 per every three months I think it was The library is insane The problem is I'm playing PS3 games on PS4 When I could be playing PS4 games on PS4 And having a better experience all around Now when you compare the Nintendo consoles To like the Xbox and the PlayStation Xbox and PlayStation are typically more for like Intense games Don't do that Nintendo is not the right Nintendo is more colorful It's more eye catchy But one of the decisions you make In consoles is console exclusive games So Nintendo is obviously going to have the Mario games You can't play them on PlayStation Xbox Xbox has Halo and Gears of War and Mass Effect PlayStation has Uncharted and Last of Us A lot of games are exclusive though So you kind of pick your favorite or you buy more than one I've never resented that How many different consoles do you have from different games?
Or do you just stick with the same Nintendo or PlayStation or whatever I haven't owned a Nintendo for a long time I felt like with a Wii I was going to have to know I said until Nintendo improves drastically I'm not bothering with them Because I have two kids And you know for me it is an investment It's like a piece of furniture I have to be wise on what I'm choosing Eventually though when a console gets old enough It gets around to around $150 I can buy that And then just play the old games that I I guess that I'm like I had played the Xbox 360 For several years A good three or four years And then the price of the PS3 dropped $250 at any pawn shop for $100 and $150 And so all of these games that I'd heard about Like Uncharted or infamous I would buy the PS3 and then just replay Games that you could buy for $7 a piece Maybe it'd use a shot because they were so old But I had never played them infamous was great How much did they usually cost? Brand new anywhere between 50 to 70 60 is pretty common for games But now one thing you're going to know is That's a new console cost Pretty more than 300, 400 I have no more about four They have Blu-ray players And they have massive memories now Like I watch Hulu I watch Netflix I use Amazon But let's see put that kind of money down You're not going to be upgrading every two or three years to a new game Now this is an investment to me Yeah I agree You know this is what we're investing our money on New games they're just Bananas have a charging speaking of bananas Donkey Kong Country Featured two sequels on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Neither of which either Donkey Kong is a playable character They featured like Diddy, Dixie, Tiny, Chunky All the characters that eventually showed up in Donkey Kong How many people can play these Donkey Kong games at the same time? Can one person be one character Another person, another character? They were all multiplayer They were actually which is pretty cool They had both ways You could compete with one another or play together Now when you play together When you play together And when you play across Lidar It'd be in the same room Like in your living room In the same room When you play at the same time You couldn't play at the same time It was kind of like the Super Mario Brothers game So one by Mario Then you connect from the Luigi All turn to date But with Donkey Kong Country You could tag your teammate in the house So I could play Donkey Kong He could tag me on the other side I'd like to push the select button And he would come in as Diddy And so that was pretty innovative As opposed to having a wake-up you died And the next person would come in and take over My brother and I spent hours Upon hours switching back and forth When he was Donkey Kong The first one And then we would have second one And then we would have second one And then we would have second one I'll still let that game I'll still play it at single time It's still difficult But it's still very addictive The series continued on the Nintendo Wii With Donkey Kong Country Returns And on the Wii U With Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze I've not played out in the middle I'm sure you lose me on the Wii But it's just that the controls are so bad To me that I love the series I love the characters I don't want to play that I don't know what's a great game now I'm sure the graphics are beautiful I'm sure it's a similar difficulty And the outline of the level types Can you play any of these games Just on the computer and not I'm not sure you can get in the mail later Most computers will have these things You'll have a ROM or a thing like that Where it will like Sinulate Nintendo graphics And you will get keys on your keyboard That will say about Jump and A and B And you'll win So you can play a lot of these games now on your computers There's a website called Triplets and Us CoolROM.com CoolROM.com And they have any other players there And you can either play in Flash or HTML You can play in either one And they've developed it So it's the same games And you're just playing it They're on the actual website Which is very cool One thing I also had was Donkey Kong Land For the spinoff The portable spinoff The original Donkey Kong Country Which sponsored Zone Series Alongside Main Series So this was Game Boy On the Game Boy On the Game Boy And I'm going to read you verbatim This description of the game That comes from its instructional book Because this instructional book Is so amazing Donkey Kong Land Story Takes place directly after the events In Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong's grandfather Cranky Kong The original Donkey Kong Cranky Kong I didn't want to drop that bombshell I wanted Jerry to do that No no no no Cranky Kong is an old That showed up in Donkey Kong Country Who would lecture you But he was the original Donkey Kong From the original game The King of the game Yeah just to add a little depth Cranky Kong Was the original Donkey Kong And he had Donkey and Diddy And he's an F U You never actually need Donkey Kong's father No he's never Never once made me Never So But all three of those Donkey Kong getting And Cranky are shown Reflecting on their previous adventure Out of jealousy Cranky Kong stole his Donkey Kong And Diddy Kong about the success of Donkey Kong Country And finally did so well Because of the elaborate graphics And sound on the Super Nintendo Irritated Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Explain they earned their success Because of the fun gameplay And not just the graphics And sound Missed previously Cranky tees with the comms They could not replicate the success of their past game On an 8-bit system like the Game Boy Causing Donkey Kong and Diddy to accept the challenge His plan to pull them complete Cranky explains that by the following day He will have called King K-rule in the Crumblings To steal Donkey Kong's bananas again And scatter across the island That's harsh Determined to prove Cranky wrong Donkey and Diddy head off to the K-rule in the Crumblings This is a game?
That's a game That's a game That's a game That's not the game That's not the introduction to how it goes And then it's played similarly to the other game But it's on Game Boy But they went through all this backstory of So it's really a frustrating version of Donkey Kong Country He was on the point He was on the point and the mechanics were so simple It was so it translated well From the Nintendo 2-bit When you have two buttons Two buttons and a control pad One that attacks them and jumps Yeah Now do any of these Donkey Kong games Made into apps that you can play on your iPad I'm not seeing it I'm not seeing it I haven't either They've really They keep a lot down on Donkey Kong's heart Nintendo in a particular Or not going down They recently put out a game called Super Mario Run That was like one of the first I have that It's on one of the first Nintendo games That was on the Apple Run It's like Temple Run Get away But it's also like a side scrolling Mario game But you don't control the speed You did to tell them when to jump That's what Temple Run If you choose the character and you're left or right Or you jump over this That's pretty much it Take one of the original Super Mario Brothers levels And have Temple Run mechanics in the face That's it That's why it's all tomorrow I don't know how to do it Mine It's fine It's kind of I played the story No, not only that Donkey Kong Land was in 1995 In 1999 Donkey Kong 64 was released Oh, that was so good I wasn't called 64 Because it was on the Nintendo 64 The 64 bits Yeah The 64 bits The 64 bits, the 64 bits Yeah, the 64 bits And so Nintendo 64 Yeah, Nintendo 64 Yeah, Nintendo 64 So Rare was a company Great game They had previously developed the Donkey Kong Country games You can develop it on a 3D Donkey Kong Country in 1997 A 16-person team with many members Recruited from Rare's Banjo Kazooie Group When he was a game in 1999 When he was published by Nintendo for North America In November and worldwide by December And it was gorgeous It was the first game To require the Nintendo 64 consoles' expansion pack And it says you had to play it into the controller It's like a memory card It was like a yellow Promotional game It was like a red top It was like a red top And you played it into the loudest to do Like have more memory access to those things So it's like the synthesizers that we used to use in college Where it comes with sounds But then you have these little Oh, the discs Yeah, it's like the little card that you plug in Exactly You expand the number of instruments you could use I don't know that you could play Donkey Kong You could not play Donkey Kong Country And then later on The games would come with the expansion pack I don't like how I took your experience with Donkey Kong And I made a musical reference out of it That makes me so happy Because you're able to relate to it To relate to it For a moment I was very weak But just wait Donkey Kong 64 Eastern an exceptional large marketing budget That included advertisements, sweepstakes And a national tour I remember that I remember the help about it I did do a national tour of a video game Just talking about it all along with you These are characters you know, but for the first time It's a fucking lawsuit It's a fucking lawsuit It's a fucking lawsuit So it is actors in Oh sure You know, this is the age of back then It was Crash Bandicoot and all these guys And they were actually people in costumes That would go around promoting this stuff Donkey Kong 64 is a 3D platforming adventure game Which the player has Donkey Kong and his friends Explore an island and collect items to progress in many games and puzzles The game follows the traditional storyline for series King Haruul They invite the Kippie Kid and his friends Single bananas And the player marches Donkey on to rescue them While exploring the in-game world And playing puzzle in many games They play as well as Black bananas Enough of these who ran access to boss fights And a lot of new worlds So cool, and you have like six different characters And I have five different characters that each have their own special abilities Evangelization, inventory And like you can shoot a pineapple gun with one of these guys And oh, it's just almost great Donkey Kong 64 is remembered as being emblematic of Rare's collectathon and adventure platformers Yeah And people look back on this game and don't remember too profoundly Because you had collect bananas And you had collect coins and you had collect different bananas And every player could do it, I loved it I did too I was just as addicted to that as I was the content And even more importantly A rap song from the game's introductory sequence The DK Rap is one of the greatest games I've been in the industry I'm afraid I can attest He's the leader of the Bunch You know him well I am going to dispute that it is the greatest song in the video game history Oh, the rap is terrible There's an ARIA in Final Fantasy 8 that moves me to tears I think that's actually better than the rap in Final Fantasy 8 They both move you to tears for different reasons Well, the video games There's actually a bigger platform for songwriters to be selling music to I can see that You can sell more music People make more money selling that than art is being formed Fun fantasy for example, there are concerts where orchestras will play Final Fantasy Well, much of Miyamoto's stuff is also the Mario, the Zelda, the Donkey Kong That orchestras do tours just playing this video game music So, I mean, there are many other games that don't come with it But I'm not as a major though hit I want to hit like notable appearances but not really Other notable appearances are going between 1995 and the present He first appeared in the Mario Kart series On the Nintendo 64 game Mario Kart 64 replacing Donkey Kong Jr from the previous installment on the Super Nintendo And he's appeared at all the series games since In Mario Kart, DK is classified as a heavyweight character Along with like Bowser and Wario His personal track is DK's Jungle Parkway As a heavyweight, he typically features like high top speed, long acceleration He throws shells at you He can ram other players to knock him off out He'll knock the shit out of him He'll knock him off the track Make him a fishtail and spin around Donkey Kong is playable in all four Super Smash Bros games Which I love those games I'm only playing the first one but Donkey Kong He's amazing You know you're going to have a good odd winning He just has one move where he starts winding up his fist He charges up a power business knock as well He is a heavyweight and so he's one of the strongest characters in the game When he picks up a character, he also has a power to carry them a short distance It's something that no other character can do He can also carry large objects such as barrels and crates He's also featured in a couple of game cube games called Donkey Kong These are rhythm games These are rhythm games that are big game starting to come up But instead of the normal controllers You controlled him by playing DK Bongo's It was a rhythm game like Rock Band or Guitar Hero Yet again, Nintendo is selling you accessories Peripherals for specific games Finally, Donkey Kong is also playable in most of the golf tennis of Nintendo sports titles He's usually portrayed as a slow and powerful character Like Mario Golf, Mario Tennis He's where there's all these characters from the Nintendo world Come together, play sports How about you learn how to play golf? I'll play golf, but I'll do it at Mario It's amazing, they're fun They're really not fun And Donkey Kong If you don't like the Rory McElroyer Tiger Wood stuff I've heard Mario But Donkey Kong is a humorous He'll show up in these games and break one of the mechanics So for example, he often takes unconventional approaches To certain sports like swinging a golf club one handed Or in the Mario Baseball game He uses a boxing glove instead of baseball bat Everyone else has a bat, he uses a boxing glove Which makes it harder to hit because he has a smaller servicer But when he hits it, that's super power Or my opinion, the most interesting of these Is that in the Super Mario Strikers soccer games, he uses his hands Instead of his feet And he will hold up on one hand As he prepares to punch it with the other Breaking all the rules of football Of football A football So those aren't the Donkey Kong games I'm gonna hit on Jeff is currently asleep because I'm working here So I'll try to make him up I'll try to wake him up by making him go 8 Over these fun facts I want you to rank these How many bushels and bananas would you give this fun fact? Is there a limit of... It's whatever you want Last time you guys went every direction you wanted to Okay So just do it again Alright, that's fair Donkey Kong's movements first fun fact Were not modeled after Gorillaz When developers visited a local zoo to check out Gorillaz They felt that the movements weren't good enough to train them But they didn't get his pace Instead, they went with a horse Who was the horse?
Donkey Kong horse Oh my god, they're all mixed together now We're gonna look at this Because it's an idiot, so Donkey Kong movements based on a horse and other gorilla Sure, I just really think me and model was unfair Calling him stupid Three bushels Yeah, I'll give that one a 7 out of a thousand Great At the time when Donkey Kong was at its most popular A slew of knock-off games came pouring out to the public Monkey Kong Kongo Bongo And the more he said Crazy Kong All a bit hard from that classic title Oh, Kongo Bongo was one of my favorite games in all time There was even a King Kong tabletop LCD game in 1981 That Thai girl like Tronics put out And they're the ones we're known for Decapets and Fergies Oh, are they now? Because back then they were like soccer games Hockey games, football games The little handheld video games that were so horrible You'd make the names so close That when I keep on telegram I forget it was Monkey Kong, right? And they were by the wrong one Crazy Kong is Donkey Kong But with different colors Just enough change to make it So that they couldn't get sued for It was time changes Crazy Kong really skirted it They came very quick We're gonna talk a lot about litigation later So thoughts on that one How about without ranking for Monkey Kongo Bongo and Crazy Kong? One, two, one I gave it one Seven and a half Out of ten Love it Donkey Kong had two national television shows He was part of the Saturday SuperCade line up of cartoons Based on video game characters in 1983 That was Mario The Super Arcade Then in 1997 DK returned to the tube on the Donkey Kong country series Based on the natural game In the first Donkey Kong cartoon The new game girl was voiced by This was the things that legendary actor-queedy and soupy sales Well back then he was a legend I didn't know but I liked the names while I closed one He would have been legendary He would have been working very well He was mostly a game show He was mostly a game show He was on sitcom variety show He had a bunch of game shows He was like all his squares He was a regular on all these games He wasn't acting anymore From 60 years ago Donkey Kong you were like Is soupy sales a lot?
If you can't be that voice He was like 60s and 90s All the things I know him from Are he be an episode of a TV show He was an episode of Wings He was an episode of the very public He was an episode of War He had to escape from a maze To allow players to jump And he would then explore the strategic element of the game But then we thought If you had a barrel rolling towards you What would you do? Even now though If you're good enough You can play that first level of Donkey Kong With every having to jump Because of the last episode You may have said of course you jump Over it so we decided to use the button to offer To jump And we made a prototype try that to work really well I think that if we had not allowed Mario to jump It would have most likely proved a Horrinsly difficult game to play And there would never have been other Mario games Or anything like that Because it would have flopped And Space Invaders would have been the one They had a cartoon In the 1980s I'm gonna do this one of the big ones I'm gonna go through some quickly But essentially A US court ruled that Donkey Kong and King Kong Were two different Oh I remember this one Because in the There's litigation universal studios Inc versus Or the Nintendo Co-LTD Was filed in 1982 And argued in court 1984 And the court ruled that universal had acted in the bad faith With the suit Had the right characters in that In any case the studio failed to prove There was any likelihood that a appreciable number Of pretentious purchasers Were likely to be misled or confused As a source of Donkey Kong So one thing that's interesting about this case Is the attorney that represented Nintendo Was attorney John Kirby Jr And that's where the name Kirby came from He defended Nintendo Kirby's a pink pupball character It's in many many Nintendo games They believed that he was named after this attorney Oh that's awesome While Nintendo fended off Universal's claims The company had been careful about protecting Its own intellectual property Alright you ready for me to rap? Yeah oh I'm very ready for this It's on like Donkey Kong You wanted that fast buck Now I gotta light that ass up Was the line with which Ice Cube started Now I gotta witch it On his 1992 predator album He used Donkey Kong in his line The phrase It's on like Donkey Kong I give that a thousand out of a thousand Although if I hear it's on like Donkey Kong now I'm like Is it? Win Will it in?
And nine years later after that You'll hear that phrase As the commercial for Donkey Kong Oh my god Because Nintendo won the file To trademark the phrase Well I give Jared's rapping Ten bushels of bananas Very kind of And the fun bag I'll give eight Well it's good to serve it Please say And that is my report on Donkey Kong That is fantastic I love Donkey Kong so much I have been completely fascinated One of my favorite songs Yeah I love Donkey Kong I'm ready to go out and play me some Angry Birds You know when I go home today I'm gonna look for Donkey Kong The emulators And probably play it for the 10 minutes it takes me to get pissed off And play modern people So much easier If you have thoughts on Donkey Kong Or any other video games Or want to disagree with anything we said Get in touch with us You can send us a message at TheWildcardPod at gmail.com Or if you've ever been kicked off Of a roller coaster for being too fat Or if you've ever had to be shoved With a stick And to get a log from it That's not happening to me I'm not morbidly obese yet But I'm working on it Or if you have a favorite video game Villain archetype Oh that's just ridiculous gimmick Yeah or comic book Comic book Villain archetype Or if you're lonely And you just want to talk to someone Or if you're from a little town in Colorado Or if you need a vent about it Or if you have arcades or visa parts Or if you come from a bucolic city They do have internet now So there you go Well that's it The series of tubes Is finally Colorado That's not so bad for you Because where we live There's an amusement There's like three music parts Within two and a half three hours Yeah In all directions That's good That's probably best You probably have been a lot more than we did I didn't take advantage of it Like that's bad for me Or why don't you wish you had a Donkey Kong video game? I do! I would love Donkey Kong Little Joe's now I don't give in but I I can't blame you I love Donkey Kong Well we thank you again for your listening We would love your comments back from you Uh Until next time Stay wild Donkey Kong And the winner of this year's By annual Wild Card Ultimate Challenge is Will Kinsley Thirlvel Mr. Thirlvel You can expect a visit in three months From our Board of Selectmen
