The Winter Meetings though the eyes of agent John Boggs
from The StewPod: Baseball, pop culture & more · host by Yahoo Sports
Everybody at the MLB Winter Meetings has a mission. Teams want to improve their rosters. Reporters want to break stories. The college kids swarming the convention center are hoping to find front-office jobs. And agents? Well we know what their mission is: To get job for the players represent. And while we understand the plight, we don't always understand or get to see the process. So on this week's podcast, we're looking at the MLB Winter Meetings through an agent's eyes. It's the cousin of our last podcast, when we talked to Dave Stewart about the Winter Meetings from a GM's perspective, both of which aim to take baseball fans behind the scenes of the game they love. In this episode, recorded around a piano at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel, we chat with baseball agent John Boggs of JBA Sports, whose clients include Adrian Gonzalez, Cole Hamels, Shane Victorino, Kyle Kendrick and other players, as well as managers such as Dave Roberts, Bruce Bochy and Mike Matheny. Boggs tell us about his typical day, how deals come together, how the media plays a part in the process and much more. It's an interesting peek inside the massive baseball gathering happening in Nashville this week.
