In The Wishing Horse of Oz, the lazy King Skamperoo of impoverished Skampavia acquires powerful wishing emeralds, his first wish conjuring Chalk, a clever talking horse from Oz. Guided by Bitty Bit, they confront Skamperoo in the Emerald City, recover the emeralds (stolen by the deceitful merchant Matiah), and strike a bargain with Chalk: the secret to the necklaces' power for future wishes.
