The Wizard of Oz or: How I Fell in Love with Judy Garland (REDBROADCAST)

from Kicking & Streaming · host Carie & Ross

Hey lil onions! We're off this week for Memorial Day, but we thought we'd run a beloved episode from last year in anticipation of Pride Month beginning on June 1st. Until we come back on June 6th, everyone remember to avoid the corporate rainbows and open your wallets for one of these fabulous organiziations listed in the article below: 24 LGBTQ+ Organizations You Can Support Right Now TAP YOUR HEELS TOGETHER THREE TIMES, ladies and theydies. Today the siblings are unpacking a beloved childhood favorite, Victor Fleming's The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland. Ross gives us some detailed backstory on the story's populist allegory, and the origin stories of the gay pride rainbow flag. Carie gets weepy over Judy Garland's earnest performance, and the siblings highlight the story's timeless message of self-worth and endless pursuit of getting over the rainbow.
