The Women Founders: Milwaukee’s Soldiers Home
from Milwaukee PBS Digital · host Milwaukee PBS
Send us Fan MailDuring the early stages of the Civil War, groups of women throughout Milwaukee began to organize in service of soldiers returning home from battle. They were not content to merely dip their toes in philanthropy, donating a few dollars to the cause. Instead, these Milwaukee women, who were once described as the "greatest auxiliary force of the army," planned and executed a relentless campaign. The producers of the digital series, The Women Founders: Milwaukee Soldiers Home, would like to thank the Civil War Museum in Kenosha as well as the Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee for allowing us to film part of this series at their locations. We would also like to thank the Milwaukee Soldiers Home for being so hospitable to us throughout the production of this series. Find more programs at https://www.milwaukeepbs.org/stream
