The wood for a little fire on a beach being blown away

from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins

Today I started off with a perplexing imagery of pieces of wood on a shore, ready to form a fire, but the wind twists them to the left and then picks them up, leaving a swirling patch of empty sand. This seemed to represent despair but then I was reminded of the fishermen disciples of Jesus who, after Jesus's crucifixion, went out fishing one night with what we can perceive as with sadness and despair; this was heightened by no catch of fish at all. But in the morning, in front of them on the shore, they see Jesus cooking them a breakfast of fish and bread. He tells them to cast their nets one more time and they had a huge haul of fish. Peter had been so remorseful of his denial of being associated with Jesus, having previously fervently promised to always be there for Him. Jesus lovingly reaffirmed and reinstated Peter as a disciple bringing more people into His Kingdom (See John 21). There we have it - Jesus lovingly and generously provides for both our physical and spiritual wellbeing.
