The Word
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
Today I have been contemplating the evolution of word in communication. Apostle John refers to Jesus as The Word Who was there at the beginning, as God and Creator. (John 1:1-3). Both Jews and the gentiles would have had some conception of word being personified as the agent between creator and created. We are reminded even now that positive thought can be transferred into positive words and into positive occurences. However, John has expounded further in telling us that Jesus is God and is our Creator. He further tells us, "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, Who came from the Father, full.of grace abd truth" (John 1:14). This gives us more of an explanation as to why Jesus, at the Last Supper, instructed His disciples to eat His body, as represented by the bread. His flesh, his body means God in us, the creative power of God in us, the Word in us. Apostle Paul tells us, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Before Jesus left this earth He promised that we could have His Holy Spirit reside in us. The Holy Spirit feeds us with His daily bread, that is, His Word - knowledge of His amazing truths.
