The Word Of God Is Your Fence Love the word of God, passionately and make it your aim to always please God and not grieve His Spirit. Breaking God’s word is breaking His Spirit and hurting Him. Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Proverbs 28:13 Tell God you are sorry for grieving His Spirit, when you fall into sin, and quickly repent and forsake that sin. If you are angry or lie, confess it immediately and do not let the sun go down on your anger and sin. That is the big secret that you need. It is not that you will never fall into sin, it is all about your reaction after you fall. 1 John 1:8 says, If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8 We take an example from Paul in acts of the apostles 23: 1-5 1Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.” 2At this the high priest Ananias ordered those standing near Paul to strike him on the mouth. 3Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! You sit there to judge me according to the law, yet you yourself violate the law by commanding that I be struck!” 4Those who were standing near Paul said, “How dare you insult God’s high priest!” 5Paul replied, “Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: ‘Do not speak evil about the ruler of your people.’ a ” Acts 23:1-5 In this Scripture, Paul immediately showed remorse after insulting the high priest. He did not make excuse – that is spiritual maturity. God wants us to waste no time in showing remorse and regret anytime we sin.
