The World Famous KROQ Story (by David Glaser)
from THE WORLD FAMOUS KROQ STORY
This is a very personal take on the world-famous KROQ. My real relationship with that station started in Brittany, when I first got three black Maxell tapes with the sound of KROQ on them. My first trip to LA was bound up with the discovery of all types of FM stations: KNAC, KPWR, and KROQ mainly, but also KIIS, KBIG, K-EARTH 101, Pirate Radio, KOST, KCRW, and a few others. One stood out: KROQ. I was a huge indie pop fan, and my two favorite bands were The Smiths and R.E.M. — I was in the right place. First off, Doug the Slug struck me with his style and his humor. When I went back to Le Mans, where I lived, I started a job at WEST-FM as a rock DJ at night, and I was really fired up by what I'd discovered in LA. The rest is history — this is my version of a very large story. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
