The World to Come

from Sanjay Prajapati · host Dr. Sanjay Prajapati

“1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: [these were] the years of the life of Sarah.” (Genesis 23:1 KJV) Are you ready to experience the World to Come? We will continue in the annual cycle of the weekly Torah portions. The Torah reading for the week of November 8, 2020 is Parashah Chayei Sarah consisting of Genesis 23:1 – 25:18. Chayei Sarah means “The Life of Sarah.” In a nutshell, the events of this Torah portion show us that Sarah dies at the age of 127, Abraham buys Sarah’s burial plot for an exorbitant price, Eliezer finds a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac, Abraham’s marries Keturah and they have children, and concludes with the death and burial of Abraham. The name of each parashah is the theme of the entire parashah. One of the themes of this parashah is the World to Come. Moses, the author of the Torah doesn’t place emphasis on Sarah’s death but rather on her life. The focus is on the World to Come. The way you live your life will have lasting effects. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to attend “The World to Come.” Your next stop, the Destined4Torah Zone! Regards, Dr. Sanjay Prajapati
