Send us Fan MailThe World’s Most Famous Protest March“Then they brought it to Jesus, and after throwing their cloaks on the colt, they set Jesus on it.”- Luke 19:35During Jesus’s time, Israel was occupied and controlled by the Roman Empire. The so called Peace of Rome meant their being dominated militarily, exploited economically, and their culture and religion subverted and altered by Rome itself. Even the Jewish high priest served at the pleasure of Rome. Ahead of the major Jewish festivals, particularly Passover, there would be an imperial procession through the streets Jerusalem. In a show of force, the Roman military marched through the streets, banners held high reminding them the Caesar was in charge. The Caesar they said was the king of kings, lord of lords, prince of peace and savior of the world. Palm Sunday remembers Jesus’s one person counter protest march where he contrasted the values of the kingdom of God with those of Rome, of servant leadership with imperial leadership, contrasted the Roman peace with the true peace of God. Palm Sunday invites us to question the values of our larger society and contrast them with the values Jesus and the prophets proclaimed. Then we get to make a choice. Whose values will we embrace? #60secondsofhope #lent #lent2025 #inspiration #growth #love #hope #positivity #positivemindset #dailydevotional #dailydevotion #dailyinspiration #dailymeditation #discipleship #friendship #prayer #discipleship #palmsunday #luke19Support the show
