Do you like looking up at the sky at night? You might see the moon and pretty stars all the way out in space! 晚上看天空很美吧。 It's not just beautiful to look at though, there's a lot to learn from space. People who study space are called astronomers. 研究太空科學的人叫天文學家。 Usually it takes many years of school to become an astronomer. But one little 8-year-old girl in Brazil could become the world's youngest astronomer! 巴西一個八歲女孩,可能會成為世界最年輕的天文學家。 The girl's name is Nicole. And she has been interested in space since she was about two years old! For Nicole's fourth birthday, she even asked her parents for a telescope! 妮可兩歲開始就對太空非常有興趣,四歲的時候她就想要一具天文望遠鏡! If you look into a telescope you can see a long way away, all the way into space! 天文望遠鏡可以看得很遠,看到太空的深處。 While looking into space, Nicole has already found 18 asteroids. If they are confirmed to be real asteroids, Nicole will become the world's youngest astronomer! People who discover asteroids, can also give them names! Nicole says she'll name the asteroids she finds after Brazilian scientists and her family! 妮可到現在已經找到18顆,要是那些真的是小行星,妮可就會成為世界上最年輕的天文學家,還可以替那些小行星取名字。 Well done, Nicole! The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
