John sees a scroll in the right hand of Him who sits on the throne, sealed with seven seals representing God’s ultimate plan for redemption and judgment. A mighty angel asks, “Who is worthy to open the scroll?” and no one in heaven or earth is found worthy, causing John to weep. But then the announcement comes: “The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed!” Jesus alone is worthy because of His victory through the cross and resurrection.
