The Wrestling Rewind #227 🎙️: CM Punk Rumours, King of the Ring Chaos, TNA Builds Momentum & King of the Ring 2001 Review

📅 Air Date: 18-06-26 📻 Broadcast on Phoenix 92.5 FM This week on The Wrestling Rewind, Darragh and Christopher tackle one of the most ridiculous wrestling rumours of the year as reports claiming CM Punk is preparing to leave WWE begin spreading across social media. The pair break down why the story makes little sense, discuss Punk's current standing within WWE, and explore the growing possibility of a major SummerSlam programme involving Cody Rhodes. Could Punk finally be the man to end what Christopher has officially dubbed "The Cody Coma"? The conversation then shifts to WWE's King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. Attention also turns to WWE's increasingly strange scheduling decisions, including Money in the Bank being pushed back yet again. With SummerSlam approaching and major stars potentially heading off for Hollywood commitments, the duo debate whether significant title changes may be on the horizon. Over in TNA, excitement continues to build ahead of Slammiversary. From Ultimate X to championship ladder matches and a stacked title card, Darragh explains why TNA currently feels like the most complete wrestling product heading into one of the busiest weekends of the year. Finally, the Wrestling Rewind Time Machine heads back to King of the Ring 2001, one of WWE's most beloved pay-per-views. The hosts revisit Edge's breakthrough tournament victory, Kurt Angle's incredible performance throughout the night, and the legendary Street Fight between Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon that remains one of the most brutal matches in company history. 🎧 Wrestling news, classic wrestling discussion, honest opinions and weekly analysis from fans who still love professional wrestling. ▶️ YouTube Chapters 00:00 The Wrestling Rewind Intro 02:00 Masters of the Universe Review 05:00 CM Punk Leaving WWE Rumours 11:00 Why The Punk Story Makes No Sense 16:00 CM Punk vs Cody Rhodes? 20:00 Enter The Cody Coma 25:00 King & Queen of the Ring Discussion 31:00 WWE's Tournament Problem 36:00 Why King of the Ring Should Build Stars 42:00 Money in the Bank Moves Again 47:00 TNA Slammiversary Preview 53:00 What Is Ultimate X? 57:00 Wrestling's Huge June Weekend 01:02:00 Forbidden Door vs Slammiversary 01:07:00 King of the Ring 2001 Review Begins 01:11:00 Edge Wins King of the Ring 01:15:00 Jeff Hardy vs X-Pac 01:19:00 Kurt Angle's Incredible Night 01:23:00 Shane McMahon Street Fight Classic 01:30:00 Final Thoughts & Wrap Up 🎧 Spotify Timestamps 00:00 Show intro 02:00 Masters of the Universe discussion 05:00 CM Punk departure rumours debunked 11:00 Why WWE isn't losing Punk 16:00 SummerSlam possibilities for CM Punk 20:00 The Cody Coma discussion 25:00 King and Queen of the Ring review 31:00 Problems with WWE's tournament structure 36:00 How WWE could create new stars 42:00 Money in the Bank schedule changes 47:00 TNA Slammiversary preview 53:00 Ultimate X explained 57:00 Wrestling's crowded June schedule 01:02:00 Forbidden Door versus Slammiversary 01:07:00 King of the Ring 2001 retrospective 01:11:00 Edge's breakout tournament win 01:15:00 Jeff Hardy versus X-Pac 01:19:00 Kurt Angle steals the show 01:23:00 Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon review 01:30:00 Closing thoughts and plugs 🔗 Follow & Support 🎙 Christopher's Podcasts: The Josh Zodiac Podcast The Reel Movie Critics YouTube: youtube.com/@THEJoshZodiacPodcast TikTok: tiktok.com/@thejoshzodiacpodcast X: x.com/joshzodiacpod 🐦 Darragh on X: @darraghwv 🌐 Website: nerdtoknowmedia.com #TheWrestlingRewind #WrestlingPodcast #CMpunk #CodyRhodes #KingOfTheRing #QueenOfTheRing #WWE #TNA #Slammiversary #UltimateX #MoneyInTheBank #SummerSlam #KurtAngle #ShaneMcMahon #Edge #JeffHardy #XPac #ForbiddenDoor #AEW #WrestlingNews #ProWrestling #Phoenix925FM
