The Wrong Choice for the Wrong Reason (1 Samuel 9 - 12)

Share a commentHave you ever made a decision based on appearances rather than wisdom? Israel did when they demanded a king like the other nations. Instead of trusting God, they insisted on human leadership, and their choice of Saul seemed ideal—tall, handsome, and influential. But what looked good on the outside didn’t guarantee godly leadership. This episode explores Saul’s early promise, his humility, and his eventual failures. It also examines Samuel’s final address to Israel—a powerful reminder that true leadership depends on obedience to God. As Samuel warns, even with a king, Israel’s real responsibility remains the same: follow the Lord wholeheartedly. If you’ve ever made a choice you later regretted, this episode will help you understand how to seek God’s best instead of settling for what seems right in the moment. Learn why prayer, obedience, and trust in God’s leadership matter more than outward appearances.Stephen Davey's newest book, The Disciples Prayer, is available now. https://www.wisdomonline.org/store/view/the-disciples-prayer-hardbackLearn more about twenty-five years of global impact, and reserve tickets to our gala. https://www.wisdomonline.org/mp/25 Learn more at https://www.wisdomonline.org/Support the show
