The Wrong Light | Ark Conspiracy Ch. 29 | Come Follow Me (Esther)

They crossed a continent to reach one door — and someone got there first. The Ark Conspiracy Ch. 29, Come Follow Me faith-fiction for August 3–9: "Thou Art Come . . . For Such a Time as This" (Esther). THE STORY SO FAR: Seventeen-year-old Noah Reyes found three drives hidden in his own basement — his grandfather's life's work — and the people who took his mother want them back. He's been running north ever since, with two friends who didn't have to come. You can start here. This week's Come, Follow Me reading is the book of Esther — an orphaned Jewish girl raised by her cousin Mordecai in the Persian city of Shushan, who becomes queen in a palace that never asked where she came from. When her people are marked for destruction, Mordecai sends her the line the whole book turns on: who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this. He does not tell her she is strong enough. He does not promise the plan will work. He tells her only that she is already standing there. Haman, who holds the king's ring and every advantage a person could want, is given the same kind of moment and asks a different question of it. Chapter 29 puts Noah in a warm corridor at the bottom of the world with no adult who can speak for him, and the safe move sitting right there in front of him. If you've ever been the only one in the room who could say the true thing — and weren't sure you were the right person to say it — this chapter is for you. Play it on a drive, on a walk, or with your family at the end of the day. Scriptures: Esther Come, Follow Me lesson: "Thou Art Come . . .
