The Young Conquerors Series: FINDING ALAN TREADWELL Chapter 13 The Favor

In Chapter 12, Uncle Gerald encouraged Alan to come with him to the baseball field and get his chance to pitch in a game. Alan wanted to believe he could, but still feared Jimmy Fishburn’s control over the other kids and hoped he wouldn’t be there. Alan was stunned when his uncle told him to go and get Jimmy if he didn’t show up. He explained that sometimes we must face situations in life that make us uncomfortable. He called those situations mountains. Both Uncle Gerald and Alan were shocked to find that no one had shown up for practice. Alan knew Jimmy had somehow caused everyone to stay away. And he considered Jimmy to be the one mountain they just couldn’t move, they couldn’t get around, or ever get through.
