THE YUGAS | Cyclical Nature of Existence with Joseph Selbie

from StarBeing · host Tarra Lee

In Sanskrit, "yuga" (युग) translates to "age," or "era," representing cycles of spiritual evolution and cosmic change in Hindu cosmology and philosophy. Each yuga deeply influences mankind's consciousness, with four distinct ages, each possessing a descending and ascending side. These ages include Satya Yuga, the golden age of truth and righteousness; Treta Yuga, the silver age of the mind and thought; Dwapara Yuga, the bronze age of magic or energy; and Kali Yuga, the iron age of moral decline and spiritual degradation. As we study these cycles, we discover more about human life and how the universe evolves. In this episode, Joseph shares his transformative journey from science to spirituality, inspired by Paramahansa Yogananda's teachings. We explore the profound experiences shaping Joseph's path, including the Yugas' redefinition of history education and the intricate levels of consciousness across the 24,000-year cycle. Delving into ancient myths and the concept of the Axis Mundi, we connect the dots between Norse, Native American, and Mesopotamian cultures. The conversation navigates through the Tree of Life, Treya Yuga, and the significance of Sanskrit and the Rig Veda. We unravel the mystical aspects of the descending Dwapara Yuga and the age of Magic, all while pondering the ancients' efforts to preserve higher knowledge. From the enigma of the Great Pyramid to cosmic theories of binary star systems, we explore the links between celestial phenomena and human consciousness.  Joseph also shares his meditation practices, rooted in the wisdom of Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri and Paramahansa Yogananda, offering insights into the Hong-Sau and Om techniques and Kriya Yoga.
