The ZOZO Demon Is Back | Terrifying New Encounters & 2026 Updates

from Mystery Archives Episodes · host Mystery Archives Episodes

More than four years ago, I covered one of the most disturbing legends ever associated with the Ouija board. It was the story of Darren Evans, an Oklahoma man who claimed that a presence calling itself Zozo entered his life through a spirit board and stalked him for decades. According to Evans, what began with a few letters moving beneath his fingertips eventually became something far darker—a pattern of threats, violent manifestations, apparent possession, disturbing events, and a house that would become infamous throughout the paranormal world. That story reached millions of people. But the Zozo phenomenon did not end when the cameras left the Oklahoma house, nor did it disappear when the first wave of internet fascination began to fade. In recent years—and especially over the last several months—interest in Zozo has surged again. I have personally noticed countless videos and stories appearing on my TikTok feed. Some of the people telling these stories insist that their encounters happened long before they knew Zozo was an internet legend. Others describe some of the same patterns reported by Darren Evans: an apparently friendly spirit that changes without warning, a planchette racing between two letters, hostile messages, electrical disturbances, obsession, sleep paralysis, and a tall black figure with unnatural red eyes. There has also been a new development involving the house itself. Tonight, we are returning to the Zozo phenomenon. We will revisit the original story and examine what has changed since the original Mystery Archives episode. For those already familiar with the original case, I will leave timestamps below so you can skip ahead. We will investigate several disturbing new accounts and confront an uncomfortable possibility: If Zozo is only an internet legend, why do some witnesses claim to remember the name from years before the legend became famous? And if these experiences can be explained by psychology, suggestion, and the unconscious movement of the human hand, why do so many people describe events that allegedly continued long after the board was put away? This is the continuing story of Zozo.
