Theft Of Silver

Originally Aired: February 2, 1938The Lone Ranger #783, "Theft Of Silver," the masked rider and Tonto investigate a wave of horse thefts plaguing ranchers near Abilene. After intercepting a drunk man named Zeke Skinner who carries a suspicious letter, the Lone Ranger discovers that prominent rancher Carol Cummings has requested Texas Rangers to help stop the thieves. However, when Silver is stolen from outside a cafe, the Lone Ranger and Tonto rush to recover him only to be confronted by men claiming to be Texas Rangers. The sheriff arrives, and the masked man finds himself accused of being the very horse thief he's tracking.A fight breaks out, allowing the Lone Ranger to escape on Tonto's horse Scout, but Tonto is captured and thrown in jail. As the episode unfolds, it becomes clear that Cummings himself is the mastermind behind the horse thefts, and his men have been posing as Rangers. Now Cummings plots to frame both the Lone Ranger and Tonto while continuing his criminal operation, setting up a dangerous situation where the masked rider must clear their names and expose the real thieves.
