"Them" Backlash, Racially Charged Black Horror, & The Bias For Black Cinema Narratives
from Tutor Reviews · host Romero Tutor
So Lena Waithe is under fire, on social media of all places, for the racially charged content of the new series "Them", and I've got some choice words about it... One of the things I noticed about social media is that it's the easiest way for folks to feel entitled and become instant critics. If it's about horror and good horror at that, I'm all for it. If it's racially charged, I'm not too sensitive about it, but I am definitely checking for the overall idea to overpower the racism on screen. But not everyone is built the same, so people are more than pissed about this new period piece series which apparently is loaded with enough themes to have the black community angry. Bare with me here. Enjoy, y'all.
