Theological Reflections The "Alpha and Omega," © 2026 ISBN 978-976-97826-0-0 PREFACEI, Dr. William Anderson Gittens, D.D., a qualified theologian with training, have decided to focus on the coherent theological arc that extends from creation to new creation in my study of the biblical story, particularly by looking at Genesis 1 and Revelation 1. My investigation is based on the knowledge that these two chapters are intricately linked in their depiction of God's work in the world, despite being separated by a great deal of time. I pay special attention to God as the "Alpha and Omega," a title that emphasizes the continuity and uninterrupted character of God's divine design from the start of creation to His final restoration (Revelation 22:13). Understanding how the Bible's narrative is a cohesive account of creation, fall, and salvation rather than just a collection of disparate events depends on this thematic thread.https://www.christourlife.online/salvation-historyUsing my research lens, I have highlighted the deep theological unity across the biblical text by capturing, framing, and revealing a number of striking differences between the accounts  in Genesis and Revelation. For example, Revelation 1 describes a new creation, free of sin, confusion, and darkness, where the fullness of God's glory is shown, whereas Genesis 1 describes the creation of the world from a state of chaos, darkness, and nothingness (Genesis 1:1-5; Revelation 21:1-4). Additionally, in Genesis, the illumination of the world is initially provided by the sun and moon, whereas in Revelation, the divine presence of God Himself becomes the source of eternal light (Genesis 1:14-19; Revelation 21:23-24). Another notable parallel is the reappearance of the Tree of Life in Revelation, signalling the restoration of eternal access to God's presence, a concept first introduced in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9; Revelation 22:2). These theological connections demonstrate that the Bible, though written over millennia by various authors, narrates a coherent story of God’s redemptive work, culminating in the fulfilment of the original creation through the restoration of what was lost.In the end, I argue that these contrasts not only reveal a continuity of God's plan throughout history but also emphasize His restorative work, offering hope for the ultimate redemption of the world. The Bible, in its entirety, tells a story of loss and restoration, of creation and recreation, all pointing toward the fulfilment of God's kingdom as seen in the new heaven and new earth. Thus, the theology presented in Genesis and Revelation together underscores a divine narrative that is both continuous and restorative, culminating in the redemption of creation itself.CreditsDr. William Anderson Gittens' The Alpha and Omega, © 2026, ISBN 978-976-97826-0-0.Holy Bible, New International Version.
