Therapy is incomplete - and what is missing

from The Journey Inwards Podcast · host Neele Emma

In this episode, I explore why many of our deepest patterns can’t be changed through insight alone.Attachment wounds show up most clearly in moments of closeness. Fear appears when something feels at stake. Depression often isn’t sadness, but a quiet shutdown of energy and sensation. These states don’t live in explanations — they live in the body. And because of that, they can’t be accessed from a distance. They need to be felt to be understood. We talk about why gentle, conscious arousal can bring these patterns into awareness without overwhelming the nervous system, and why the difference between intensity and awareness matters more than we’ve been taught. Too much intensity often reinforces old coping strategies. The nervous system either shuts down or escapes, and nothing new is learned.
