As much as we'd all love to take shortcuts to complete a project, there simply are none. Sure, you can stand on the giants of those who came before you, but that still requires work. And for my money's worth, many artists hurt themselves by thinking there is an exact way to do something. Yes, there are best practices but in the end, whatever gets the job done is the right path. Don't believe me? I cite examples from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings to illustrate my points. I also explore this notion in the context of faith.
