There_s Something Wrong With Lakrisha
from Red Tree Crime Hosted by Red Tree Crime
Lakrisha laughs at funerals. Lakrisha cries at weddings. Lakrisha texts her ex-boyfriend forty times a day. Lakrisha does not understand why people avoid her. Lakrisha is not evil. Lakrisha is sick. In this episode, I examine the case of Lakrisha, a woman whose behavior confused and frightened everyone who knew her. She was not a killer. She was not a predator. She had a personality disorder that distorted her perception of social norms. She did not know that her behavior was inappropriate. She did not understand why people recoiled from her touch. She did not realize that her constant texting was harassment. The episode explores the difference between evil and illness. Lakrisha was not trying to hurt anyone. She was trying to connect. Her methods were wrong because her brain was wired differently. The episode calls for compassion for people like Lakrisha. They are not monsters. They are suffering. The episode also offers advice for people who interact with individuals like Lakrisha. Set boundaries. Be clear. Do not expect them to read social cues. They cannot. Turn down the lights, put on your headphones, and press play because there is something wrong with Lakrisha. But she did not choose to be this way.
