There's No Target Audience for How to Live

Next week, I’ll be speaking to a middle school class for 90 minutes—my third year doing this. While preparing, I realized something simple: I’m not there to teach. I’m there to think alongside them.I’m 47 and I’ve had a winding path—running an eyewear shop, taking big risks, experiencing failure, and starting over more than once. Those experiences matter to me, but they haven’t magically given me a clear “life purpose.” If anything, they’ve shown me how easy it is to stall, to hide behind “preparation,” or to tell myself I’m too late.This episode is a quiet reflection on what experience gives us—and what it can take away. On momentum, on the habit of standing still, and on the idea that the essentials of how to live don’t really change with age.I’m not offering answers. Just sharing what I’m working through, and why I want to meet those students on the same ground.
