He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from BYU–Hawaii, a master’s degree in education from BYU, and a PhD in education management from Rand Afrikaans University. Brother Mdletshe began his career in education research before joining the Church's educational system in 1997. He has served in numerous Church roles, including missionary, bishop’s counselor, branch president, and mission president’s counselor.
