Today's Catholic Daily Mass readings for Thursday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time include one of Paul's most explosive declarations and Jesus' devastating prophecy against religious leaders who honor dead prophets while plotting to kill living ones.In the First Reading from Romans, Paul announces that righteousness comes through faith in Jesus Christ apart from works of the law. No distinction between Jew and Gentile. All have sinned, all are justified by grace as gift. This demolished the entire religious system that scholars controlled and profited from.
