In March 2000, 23-year-old Leah Roberts packed her white Jeep Cherokee, withdrew thousands of dollars, and left North Carolina on a cross-country road trip inspired by Jack Kerouac. Five days after she was last seen in Bellingham, Washington, a couple jogging along a remote logging road near Mount Baker found her Jeep wrecked at the bottom of an embankment. Leah wasn't inside.
