They glory in their shame (Romans 1:16-32)

Like any good doctor, the apostle Paul has given the solution to man's greatest problem. We covered last week in Romans 1, that Jesus Christ has the power to forgive us of our sins, and that the righteous will live by faith and that is from first to last, by faith that we are saved. Paul now moves on to show why humanity needs Jesus and he starts by looking toward the Gentile nations and the things that they do which have accumulated for them the judgment of God. He says that the nations didn't see fit to retain the knowledge of God. They even go as far as to suppress it, that is, His invisible attributes, eternal power and divine nature. That from their hearts come forth many things that are so wrong and that the further they go from God, the further God allows them to go, even God giving them over to their depravity. Many Christians can look at this and then judge and condemn those who are outside of Christ. Or even the religious world, upright and religious countries do condemn and judge those outside of their faith. But this is not true for those who understand grace and follow Christ obediently. We Christians are no different to those who are outside of Christ except that we have Christ and have received forgiveness. As Paul lists off the many sins that has caused God to be upset and His wrath hang upon people - we see ourselves. We all have committed some of these things that have violated God's law of love. And so, as Christians, we need to come to the Gentile nations and speak the truth in love, declare the solution that Paul has already spoken of, and that is by faith in Jesus we receive the righteousness of God.
