They Got the Turkey
from Ririro.com - Kids Stories (6-10 Years) Hosted by Ririro
"They Got the Turkey" is a Christmas short story about Neal and Hetty Todd, two resourceful children from a poor family whose mother has her holiday money stolen by a thief. Determined to give her the turkey dinner she loves, the siblings march to the local market and appeal to its jolly, white-bearded owner, Mr. Onosander Golong — a man who bears a striking resemblance to Santa Claus. The story they tell him is charming, funny, and full of quiet desperation, building to a single triumphant line that says everything without saying much at all.
