THEY/THEM (2022)

"I'd understand it a lot more if there were a lot more queer bashing and bible-thumping..." On the surface, the movie Blumhouse's THEY/THEM had everything going for it: A slasher film with a novel queer conversion camp setting. Three-time Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Logan at the helm. Kevin Bacon's return to his horror roots. Queer characters actually played by queer actors. With a built-in audience, undeniable talent, and seemingly the best intentions, THEY/THEM seem poised to take Queer Horror Cinema to the next level while exposing the real-life horrors of conversion therapy. Instead, it failed on almost every level. Join my special guests TARA GARNER and REVERAND BEN FITZGERALD-FYE as we take a good long look at what went wrong at Camp Whistler THEY/THEM is currently available on Peacock.
