They Wanted an Abortion. McKenna Named Him Gabriel.

from CURE America · host Ariel Zimerman

Welcome to CURE America. Today our show is hosted by Jonathan Alexandre, Vice President of Governmental Affairs and Senior Counsel at Liberty Counsel.   This episode asks a question most of the culture has decided not to hear: what is a child, if not a product? Alexandre sits with Mark Wiltz of Live Action and Torrey Snow of CURE as they confront surrogacy, IVF, and the industry that sells parenthood as a transaction. Wiltz brings the fight from Capitol Hill and from Live Action's work under Lila Rose—the humanity of the preborn, the damage of the abortion pill, and the difference between welcoming a baby and ordering one. Snow brings the older claim: family is not a lifestyle accessory. It is the first institution God made, and no people stay whole once children become inventory.   At the center is McKenna West, a cardiac nurse hired to carry a child for a couple in Los Angeles. When the baby is diagnosed with a severe heart defect, the intended parents want the pregnancy ended. West will not. She takes the child to Texas, where surgeons can treat him and the law still treats him as alive. Gabriel is born. Live Action, Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Erik Baptist, and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stand between a contract and a killing. The episode does not present this as a curiosity. It presents it as the logic of commodification, followed all the way to the edge.   Later, Wiltz leaves and Marty Dannenfelser of CURE joins Alexandre and Snow. The same moral problem moves into policy: whether families can reach scholarship aid without waiting on a governor's permission, and whether Congress will keep delaying limits on high-THC hemp products already sold like snacks and already sending people to emergency rooms. The argument is not that government can heal a culture. It is that a culture which will not name a child as a gift will medicate everything else and call the result freedom.   Watch if you want the unvarnished case against buying and selling parenthood—and a close that refuses despair. A child is not a line item. The family, the church, and a people still able to petition their government remain older, and stronger, than the market that learned how to price a life.   We'll see you next week on CURE America.
