In an enormous nest lined with soft tawny feathers, the Prince of This Island sits, knees drawn close to their chest, watching the sea. They close their glassy black eyes and begin to hum, rocking side to side as the sounds of the waves beat a backing track against This Island’s stony beach. It brings back a pleasant memory.“You will come to understand” the Prince repeats out loud. They can’t help but wonder if this prophecy has come true for their visitor.A storm is brewing in the distance. The Prince cannot hear its voice, but they know it has a powerful will and a mind of its own. The Eagle comes home to his roost, and the Prince moves aside to make room for his huge, warm body.
