💀 Blind Hero is Humanity's ONLY Hope! 🔥 You WON'T BELIEVE the SHOCKING Twist! (Drunken Zombies Podcast)Welcome, fellow zombie fanatics, to your DAILY dose of delicious undead dread – it's THE DRUNKEN ZOMBIES PODCAST! Get ready to have your brains both thrilled and tickled as we dive into a tale so terrifying, so unbelievable, it'll make you double-check if you're invisible!Tonight, we're plunging into the mist-shrouded nightmare of Whispering Pines, a seemingly sleepy town that's about to learn a horrifying truth: sometimes, the deadliest monsters are the ones you can't see!Act One: The Vanishing* Imagine this: one day, your neighbor is there, complaining about their lawnmower. The next? POOF! Gone! Not a struggle, not a sound, just... an empty house. That's the chilling reality gripping Whispering Pines, and the locals are freakin' out. Whispers fill the air (pun intended!), and fear is thicker than the morning fog.* Enter Marcus, a blind veteran who can sense things others can't. He's like Daredevil, but instead of ninjas, he's dealing with invisible undead! He feels a cold dread, a presence of "death and decay" that sends shivers down his non-existent spine (because, you know, zombies don't have spines... usually).* Our man Marcus gets a cryptic quote stuck in his head: "Invisibility is not a gift; it's a curse that leaves you groping in the dark...". Little does he know how TRUE that's about to become! Even the local barkeep's daughter, Jenny, is spooked by the disappearances and the eerie silence that follows. Marcus, ever the insightful blind dude, knows something sinister is lurking.Act Two: Seeing the Unseen (Almost)* The townsfolk are officially losing it, and some are even doubting Marcus. But our sightless hero ain't giving up! He teams up with Sarah, a tech-savvy teen (because every good horror story needs a tech whiz), to build ultrasonic detectors – a desperate attempt to make the invisible visible!* They even rope in Mr. Thompson, the town's historian, who starts digging up some seriously creepy local legends about folks vanishing without a trace. Could the answer to their invisible zombie problem lie in the town's spooky past? Dun dun DUN!* They set up their high-tech ghost-busting gear, and for a moment, there's a glimmer of hope. They DETECT something! But wouldn't you know it, their grand plan backfires SPECTACULARLY! The invisible zombie horde gets PISSED and launches a full-scale, still-invisible, assault! Chaos ensues as folks get snatched left and right by what they can't even see!Act Three: Feeling the Fear* Our hero is down but not out! Just when things look their bleakest, the leader of the invisible undead makes itself known to Marcus, revealing a deliciously evil plan to devour souls and reclaim the earth! Talk about a villainous monologue!* Marcus has an epiphany: sight won't save them; they need to feel the danger! He starts training the terrified townsfolk to rely on their other senses, teaching them to sense the unseen menace. Imagine a bunch of panicked people trying to "feel" invisible zombies! Comedy gold!* In a final, desperate showdown, Marcus and a brave (or maybe just crazy) team venture into the heart of darkness. Using a combo of their amped-up senses and the (hopefully still working) ultrasonic gadgets, they confront the invisible baddie boss. It’s a battle of the senses versus… well, nothing you can see!* In a twist that will SHOCK YOU, it's not brute force, but their sheer courage and determination to face their invisible fears that turns the tide! The leader of the unseen gets un-seen for good! Victory! But wait... is it REALLY over? The Chilling Aftermath* Whispering Pines is saved... for now! But Marcus knows that the true enemy wasn't just the invisible undead; it was fear itself. As long as fear lingers, the whispers might return.* Marcus, now the town's unlikely hero, stands vigilant, ready for the darkness – visible or invisible – to return. He's learned that sometimes, the greatest strength comes from within, especially when facing monsters you can't even glimpse. So, what do YOU think was the real horror in Whispering Pines? Were the invisible zombies scarier, or was it the paralyzing fear of the unknown? Let us know your theories! And don't forget to RATE and FOLLOW The Drunken Zombies Podcast for more brain-tingling tales of terror! You never know what invisible horrors might be lurking just around the corner... or right behind you! 😉 This is a public episode. Adventures in New America Night Vale Presents Adventures in New America is the first sci-fi, political satire, Afrofuturistic buddy comedy, serialized for New Americans in a new and desperate time.Set a few years in the future, Adventures in New America follows the escapades of two mismatched African-New-American best friends — fat, lonely, curmudgeon IA and lesbian sneak-thief Simon Carr — who take on a series of increasingly wild heists to get quick cash to pay for IA’s medical treatment while attempting to survive the wilds of New New York City — and a secret cabal of Tetchy Terrorist Vampire Zombies from outer space. Intrigued? Good! Frequently, there will be musical numbers... and radical reflections on our dangerous, beautiful, heart-pounding world. Rationality: From AI to Zombies Eliezer Yudkowsky What does it actually mean to be rational? The kind of rationality where you make good decisions, even when it's hard; where you reason well, even in the face of massive uncertainty; where you recognize and make full use of your fuzzy intuitions and emotions, rather than trying to discard them. In Rationality: From AI to Zombies, Eliezer Yudkowsky explains the science underlying human irrationality with a mix of fables, argumentative essays, and personal vignettes. These eye-opening accounts of how the mind works (and how, all too often, it doesn't) are then put to the test through some genuinely difficult puzzles: questions in computer science about the future of artificial intelligence (AI), questions in physics about the relationship between the quantum and classical worlds, questions in philosophy about the metaphysics of zombies and the nature of morality, and many more. Sanctuary: Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse Scribl | Joshua Jared Scott Brutal, agonizing convulsions simultaneously strike a quarter of the Earth's population. There is no warning and no discernible pattern regarding race, age, gender, or region. The afflicted die within moments of one another. Seven minutes later they rise again and attack the living. The speed at which the disaster happens is too great for any organized response. Towns are overrun. The government and military find themselves unable to react. Civilization crumbles in a matter of hours. By the end of the first day, the streets are filled with shambling corpses, mindless beings driven solely by the desire to feed. Jacob Thornton decides his only chance is to abandon his home. Fleeing the city, he travels north, encountering other survivors on the way. Together, they gather supplies, seek a place of safety, and discover through trial and error how to defend against the zombies. Yet, the creatures never stop moving, and they have begun to leave the population centers, spreading across the GrownUpLand BBC Radio 4 "Now I’m a grown up… do I have to get married? Do I have to scrimp and save?? Do I have to host a dinner party??? GrownUpLand poses the most frustrating questions. Luckily, Sophie Duker, Heidi Regan and Ned Sedgwick are here to guide you through the bewildering pursuit of adulthood. Through stupid challenges, useful facts and personal stories of rich victory and miserable failure, your guides will ensure you don’t feel alone in your hopeless endeavour to be a legit grown up. Plus, every week a special guest candidly shares their experiences, from failed dates and drunken mistakes to moments of clarity and pet hates. And the very handsome Steve Ali, a refugee from Syria now a writer and silversmith in the UK, helps to put a listener’s dilemma into perspective.
