They're Trying, so Why Doesn't It Feel Like Enough?

from Heal from Infidelity: Reclaiming Your Peace, Power, and Self-Trust After Betrayal · host Andrea Giles

When someone who has betrayed you is genuinely trying to change, it can be confusing when it still doesn't feel like enough. In this episode, I explore one of the most common and painful questions people face after infidelity: "If they're trying, why do I still feel unsettled?" I walk through five possible reasons why progress in a relationship may not feel as healing as you hoped. Sometimes it's because your nervous system is still learning to trust. Sometimes the changes being made lack the depth needed to rebuild safety. Other times there is a missing shared understanding of what happened, or you may be overriding your own truth in an effort to be reasonable. And sometimes the work of creating safety must begin from within. Healing after betrayal isn't about forcing yourself to feel better. It's about learning to discern what is true, what you need, and what will help you move forward with clarity and confidence. In this episode, we cover: How betrayal impacts your nervous system and sense of safety Why effort and emotional depth are not the same thing The importance of creating shared meaning after infidelity How self-abandonment can keep you stuck Why internal safety matters, regardless of your partner's actions If this episode resonates with you, reach out. You don't have to navigate these questions alone. More from me: Have a question you'd like me to answer on the podcast?
