Things To Know About Timing Belts

from Listen. Learn. Lead · host Ernest Martinez

Timing belt change depends on the make and model of the vehicle but usually requires a timed belt to gain access. You may want to replace the generator and AC fan belts at the same time, as they are often motors - which are often difficult to reach and need to be removed anyway to change the timing belts. A good mechanic will inform you if a timing belt needs replacing, but it is a good idea to do so if recommended. If you have proof of a replaced timing belt, you should have the belt checked every 60 km and have it checked at least once a year. Timing belts are a great way to transfer rotational motion into linear motion and the HTD belt is excellent for this task. It is important to check the condition of the timing belt to detect early signs of damage, especially if it is in use for more than a few years. One of the next steps to take is to check whether your vehicle contains a timing chain or timing belt, as timing belts and repairs are a considerable expense. If you know exactly what you are doing and what is being done, you can save expensive maintenance. Listen to this episode to know all about timing belts and its importance...
