Think Brick with David Welsh

David is a director and co-founder of Welsh + Major, a collaborative architecture practice that began in 2004. The practice has designed many beautiful, distinctive award winning buildings across a range of typologies. He describes his work as modern-ish, a design approach that allows the practice to work within a broad modernist sensibility without being constrained by any dogma of materials or austere functionality. David is a regular contributor to a range of design publications. He has contributed as a jury member to a number of awards programs and is currently an Australian Institute of Architects NSW chapter councillor. In this episode, your host Elizabeth McIntyre and special guest, David Welsh, have an intriguing conversation which covers topics such as: Growing up in Sydney; How he was exposed to architecture through studying art; His experience working in London and how this shaped his career; Why he loves to design with brick; Roof tiles and award-winning House with Tiles on It; And much more...
