THIRSTING FOR GOD'S PRESENCE!

from The Kingdom Of God First Podcast. · host Tewe Kolade Felix

Scripture: Psalm 42:1-2 "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" There are moments in life when our souls feel dry, weary, and distant. In those moments, like the psalmist, we begin to feel a deep thirst—not for things, answers, or distractions, but for God's very presence. This kind of longing reflects a heart that knows no other source can truly satisfy. Just as water is essential to physical life, God’s presence is vital to our spiritual well-being. We were created to live in communion with Him. The more we draw near, the more we realize how desperately we need Him—not only in times of trouble but every moment of every day. The psalmist’s cry shows us it’s okay to be spiritually thirsty. In fact, it's a gift—a signal that it's time to seek God again, to rest in His Word, to listen for His voice, and to worship Him simply because He is worthy. It is in His presence that our soul finds peace, strength, and renewal. Today, ask yourself: Am I truly thirsting for God’s presence—or have I been trying to fill that thirst with lesser things? Prayer: Almighty Father, awaken my soul to thirst for You above all else. Fill the dry places of my heart with the refreshing flow of Your Spirit. Draw me into deeper intimacy with You, for only Your presence can satisfy. Amen.
