Thirty-One Days In
from The Sportsman's Light · host Patrick
One month into the new year of this journey. Thirty-one mornings, thirty-one passages, thirty-one small decisions to show up. September waits with its openers and its cool mornings — but before the pace of fall takes over, mark this: you are one month further down the trail than you were.Paul's confidence for the Philippians is the promise to carry into month two: He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. The operative word is He. God started this work in you, and God finishes what He starts. Your job is not to manufacture the growth — it's to keep showing up while He does the building. Some of the thirty-one days were strong. Some you barely remember. That's how real journeys go. The trail ahead is long, the seasons will turn, and the One who began the good work is not quitting on you. Thirty-one days in. Keep walking.Prayer:Lord, thank You for carrying me through this first month — the strong days and the distracted ones alike. You began this work in me, and You will finish it. Give me endurance for the trail ahead, and keep me showing up, one morning at a time, until the work is complete. Amen.Challenge:Close out the month with a review: which devotional from these thirty-one days stuck with you most, and why? Revisit it today, and carry its challenge with you into September as your marching orders for the month ahead.
