Thirty Pieces: The Price of Betrayal and the Cost of Love | Daily Readings | April 16, 2025 | Holy Wednesday

Today’s Scripture reflections for Holy Wednesday (Spy Wednesday):First Reading (Isaiah 50:4-9a): The Servant of the Lord remains steadfast amid betrayal, trusting that God will vindicate him against unjust accusers.Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 69:8-10, 21-22, 31, 33-34): In the face of rejection and insult, the Psalmist cries out to God, finding hope in divine rescue.Gospel (Matthew 26:14-25): Judas agrees to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, setting into motion the final steps toward the Passion, even as Jesus offers him a final opportunity for repentance.Through these readings, we are invited to confront the devastating reality of betrayal, to reflect on the astonishing mercy of Christ who continues to extend love to the betrayer, and to prepare our hearts for the sacred mysteries of the Triduum.A ministry of Christus Dominus Bread of Life.Produced in collaboration with Christus Dominus Studios.
