This Day in Philly Sports History - August 12, 2024

The Phillies ended their west coast swing in dreadful fashion, losing 12-5. They are off today before starting a stretch of 22 games in a row against sub-.500 teams. Hopefully they can turn it around for the sake of my blood pressure. Today we start our 20 Questions in 20 Days about the 2024 Eagles. Today's Question is "Can we chalk up last year's collapse to the Super Bowl Hangover?" On this day in 2009 the Phillies beat the Cubs 12-5 at Wrigley. Ibanez, Rollins and Victorino homered as Pedro Martinez made his Phillies debut. Victorino had a beer dumped on his head while catching a fly ball in the 5th.
