This I Believe: You Are Not Your Own

from Central Speaks · host Hamilton Central Baptist Church, NZ.

Discussion Questions (Week commencing Sunday 23rd May 2021) 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 The believer who is cleansed from sin, sanctified, and justified by God’s grace, is set free from the bondage of sin. What had the Corinthian believers done with that freedom, that Paul had warned the Galatian believers not to do (Gal. 5:13)? How did the Corinthian believers rationalise sexual immorality (1Cor. 6:12-13)? Are there any other sins you can think of today that believers tend to rationalise and accept as ok? Are there any that we ignore, or are afraid to talk about because it’s not PC to discuss or mention them? In verse 17 Paul argues that illicit relationships by a believer are especially reprehensible. Explain why Paul argues this. What was Paul’s argument concerning sexual sin, or any other sin in verse 19? What is the believers supreme purpose (6:20; cf. 10:31)? What application can you make from this purpose for believers today?
