This One Thing: Transformed by the Truth

from Tallowood Baptist Church · host Duane Brooks

Message by Duane Brooks from John 9:24-38. As we commit ourselves to “this one thing,” how do we know if we are authentic followers of Jesus? Transformation. Like the Apostle Paul, when we enter relationship with Jesus Christ, he begins to change us. None of us has arrived, but we have been changed. After stories from the gospels of Mark and Luke, Sunday we come to the gospel of John. Here, the blind man, an ideal disciple, experiences transformation physically and spiritually as he comes to know Jesus. It could happen to us!Quotes:Chrysostom said, “They threw him out of the Temple but the Lord of the Temple found him . . . because he came looking for him . . .Newton says to Wilberforce, "You must use it. Names, records, ship records, ports, people—everything I remember is in here. Although my memory is fading, I remember two things very clearly: I'm a great sinner, and Christ is a great Savior."Marge Caldwell quoting John Newton said, “I’m not who I ought to be, nor am I yet who I wish to be, but thank God I am not who I used to be.Alan Redpath wrote, “Give up the struggle and the fight; relax in the omnipotence of the Lord Jesus; look up into His lovely face and as you behold Him, He will transform you into His likeness. You do the beholding–He does the transforming. There is no short-cut to holiness.”Find more at tallowood.org.To discover more messages of hope, go to tallowood.org/sermons/.Follow us on X and YouTube @tallowoodbcFollow us on Instagram @tallowood.baptistFollow us on FaceBook @tallowoodbaptist
