I was so impulsive that as a young adult, I put cake in a girl's face at a birthday party and it did not go over well. I can still be impulsive at times and say things I don’t mean to. However, I have learned to restrain myself more through prayer and self-reflection. Psalm 19:13-14 has helped me tremendously in doing this and I hope it inspires you as well.“Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” - Psalm 19:13-14I was convicted in my life over the things I would watch on t.v. After a long day, I would unwind by watching vile things. From crime shows to other violent t.v. content, I started to recognize the negative impact it had on my mind. I’m not perfect, but now I desire to be more mindful of what I consume.Negativity can become a form of meditation. What comes into our minds and our hearts, we dwell on. I don’t want to dwell on the negative. I want to meditate more on God and His Word, God’s presence and His ways. It is when we consume more of God, that God can keep us from our presumptuous sins, and the words of our mouths and the mediations of our hearts can be acceptable in His sight. We’d love to hear from you!
